Re: winter fourteen
Probably one of the worse hidings I've had was at double overhead Kirra. Late take off, pulled in deep, put the end section of the tube pinched off before I could squeeze out. Then cartwheeled and driven down flat onto the sandbank and got absolutely butchered.

Re: winter fourteen
I get what ur saying but based on 20 yrs up there and 10 yrs down here I disagree. Sure, Kirra can be razor fast and challenging. But it's a lot more predictable and manageable than some of the shifty uneven raw and full volumed waves down here. And some of the beachies down here will easy hold a le...

Re: winter fourteen
^^^ What, those points are better than Bondi and Bronte? ;) Mate. I'd be lucky surf those spots once every 2 years. But the points are mind-bendingly perfect. They're surreal. Easy waves to surf that lend themselves to a higher level of performance, by default. On the points up there, your challeng...

Re: winter fourteen

Re: Where did you surf today ?
In any case, it still looks like a hot board. For six foot points up there, u have a lot of options for whatever board. Those waves are that perfect that it more just comes down to how u wanna surf and less about "will the board handle it". But the meat on that thing looks ideal for the paddle-fest....

Re: winter fourteen
Sounds like just the very thing based on those pics u posted up. It'd be like putting calligraphy pen to fine paper. Beautiful lines.
Itching for the weekend, as this mornings dawn raid didn't eventuate. A blown out mess and not overly inviting or worth the bother ..

Re: Where did you surf today ?
2-3 foot soupy peak stuff. mostly burgers, but the odd bowl section here and there. took the 6'2 webber 'the one' shortboard out. it lit up ok on some of the more bowly waves. managed to get one good satifying backhand vertical belt out of it. felt the fins punch thru the lip, saw a fair wack of spr...

Re: If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be
6'4 black beauty as a close second What type of waves do you use the black beauty in? well, i no longer have one as a ledge ate it. but i did have one a while back that i used mostly in 6-8 foot groundswells. essentially they're a step-up board, and you need bigger powerful waves to get the best ou...
