Re: Base gone under
Agreed that businesses should be conducting themselves properly, but there's some very good boards been made at base. I've had 2. The shapers are good communicators and will do a custom - including a strong glass job if requested. It would be a great loss to surfing if shapers of that caliber were n...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Not telling for fear of reprisals, but had an absolute cracker. Took the morning off. New board stoke. 4 surfs and already sure it's a keeper. I am blessed in my part of the world. Quite a few semi-secret spots and no crowds.

Re: Good people in the Industry
Josh Dowling. Apart from being aware of his beautifully crafted surfboards, I don't know him from a bar of soap. Despite this, he did me a favour by getting me some stuff at considerably less than retail. By the time it would've taken him to source and post the goodies, there'd have been barely a pe...

Re: Samoa in july? waste of money or worth a stab?
Sounds a fair compromise brendo. Definitely hit & miss, especially in August when I was there. Got real lucky with the trades (lack of), but I was there on a wife plus surfing kind of trip. Doubt I'd risk it at that time of year for dedicated surf mission. The missus was a bit neglected though and s...

Re: Samoa in july? waste of money or worth a stab?
Fair point brendo, but pretty sure they're going ok and B said that he doesn't want it to get full on as he likes to have time without guests so he can spend time with his young family. They have fishos and divers as well as surfers and when I left he was having some ocean going spearfishing nuts co...

Re: whats kelly riding?
Only ever had 1 quad and never had that centre-line issue so many seem to talk about. Might have been the vee through the tail. I did have issues in the release off the top. Took me awhile to sort it (almost completely) by tinkering with fins. I recently snapped the board and doubt I'll be getting a...

Re: Skin Cancer
I'm pushing 50. Did the aussie sun kid thing. Outdoor tradie for 15 years with shirt off all summer. Surfing since 11 yo. Pretty sure I'll be having issues for all my remaining days, but can't convince many of the young blokes to do the slippery, sloppy, slappy thing.

Re: Skin Cancer
Good to know you're on top of it all. When you mentioned 'spots "iced" off', it made me recall an experience of my own. I had a clear small scabby type thing on my arm which would dry out and fall off, leaving a slightly raised light pink bit of skin. The process repeated for a few years. Didn't thi...

Re: Skin Cancer
Know a medical (cancer) researcher who is adamant that all skin cancers should be excised for pathology reasons. She says that freezing doesn't always get all the potentially nasty bits that may be malignant. Excision will be followed up if the pathology shows malignancy.

Strapper in Torquay have got wetties at 50% off atm. Got a 3/2 last Thursday for $150. Sale meant to have finished even before I got mine so might still be going if you're lucky. You must really feel the cold if you're in a 4/3 in qld.

Fair enough CF. Probably should have reserved such a comment to Shoartboarders forum. Just stating that it just doesn't do it for ME. I'm ok in that it does for others.

Just snapped a quad and will be replacing it with a thruster. Quad: Bourton Silver Bullet 6'2 20'1/4" 27/16". Need: Pushing 50, shit shoulder so wanted extra volume and something that would surf seemingly without that extra volume. Yeah, I know bumfluff "jimmy1501 wrote: Or you could not be a kook a...

Poor, dear Rachel. She had no idea she was inviting a bunch of uncouth heathens into the niceties of Manly civilisation. Live and learn Rache, live and learn.
