Re: Where did you surf today ?

The banks are starting to return across the whole beach. How's the big gully of a run out bank mid-beach. It's shaped like a fkn big "W"
That's shits gonna cook next decent East swell.

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over

It's got the hourglass bonzer channel. It'd be like mine. The bottom contours are more subtle than a Campbell bonzer. Still uber fast and drivey regardless .

I surfed crunchies. It was clearly too small to work properly.

Re: How old are you? Seriously!

how big does point leo have to be for it "not" to closeout? i had a crack at it on a smaller day, shoulder height, and it was total junk. it was a closeout essentially. and it was such gutless puss that it made bellambi look like backdoor pipeline.

Re: How old are you? Seriously!

from what i'd seen over the 2 week break, phillip island takes the fking cake for the best mix of conditions, swell, and consistency >> summary of my cursory touristy observations, albeit only over a limited timespan.. west of otway = big, gnarly, super fickle, unimpeded and relentless (as it's west...

Re: How old are you? Seriously!

^^ same with the mornington peninsula. cops a fk load of swell, but doesn't know what to do with it. often windy as hell, and you need to find small windows where there's no wind, and somewhere that's not shutting down. i saw 6-8 foot closeouts at rye beach that were literally 200 metre long closeou...

Re: How old are you? Seriously!

the other side of Cape Otway i went to johanna over the xmas/ny break, and it must have been triple overhead plus. wind affected, and freight-training semi-closeouts. very shifty and sectioning with no real channel. nobody out. had the wife with me also, so didn't feel it wise to paddle out alone w...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It's a magic spot. Semi crowded but heaps shifty and lots of waves coming in so it was easy to get your fill.

Love that wave. It's like the polar opposite of maroubra . Sorta like a slingshotting and less tidy version of South straddie

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Head high reef down the South Coast on dawn. Wasn't really working. Mostly a drop then a couple of burgery top turns where there's usually a backdoor barrel section. Swell was too crossed up and wonky. Then a short paddle across a river-mouth to surf a beachie. Wasn't too bad. Short punchy aframes r...

Little bit of size about down here. Maybe four or so foot on some. Pretty lethargic swell though.

Re: Jack Roberton: Big Wave Surfer

Loofy measures shearers success against his own. There's more to life than patrolling the Eastern beaches of sydney in your Land Rover stocked up full of thousand dollar surfboards and monkey pumping about in closeout mush.
