The British Airways Surfboard Ban
This was announced a few months back now and the stooges over at British Airways 'BA' are still not allowing surfers to travel with surfboards. (They have even been screening 2 surf movies per flight on their long hauls apparently!) I hear that it can affect Qantas flights because Qantas partner wit...

Just for the record: Any craft not being used for a rescue is not allowed to enter or exit in between the flags. If you have a problem, or notice a surfboat, board or ski in the flags for purposes other than a rescue. Say something to the club captain. Bitching about it on here does your cause no g...

"He made his way ashore, where he passed out in a cave that he had temporarily made home with a mattress and his belongings." - Perhaps he was in debt in Tassie and was escaping from a 'loan' shark? Either that or Edward Scissor hands got hold of him. Russell Crow couldn't afford to live in a cave i...

Dangerous indeed. It is amazing how some of those boat crews do not have a clue. It truly AMAZES me! Sh-t! Taking off and heading at the line up with no regard for anyone. It goes against common sense, it goes against sanity. Leave us alone and let us surf. Go and paddle your boats around the harbou...

Who buys a new board from a surf store?
My last two board purchases have been from a shaper. How many people buy a brand new board from a store and why? Is it because you get a trade in? What are the pro's and cons of buying from either a store or a shaper? I would be interested in peoples thoughts here.

Turned out to be quite an interesting post this. Interesting to know how many surf brands are owned by the same big players. Will be interesting to see if surfing does get "so big" that common sports brands such as Nike will be making wetties and accesories sporting their current big brand names? (I...

Big sports brands will buy up surfing labels?
Surfing is massive: Men and Women's global tours that's gain millions of $'s in sponsorship deals, producing superstars and is growing bigger and bigger each year. Surf brands turnover millions in revenue a year and the surf fashion industry is now a billion dollar picture. Didn't Golf used to be an...

Why do I surf?
Habit. If you have broken up with a girlfriend and you feel really down and your heart is shouting Faaaaarrrk and your mates are trying to cheer you up but you can't cheer up etc because the habit of the last 1, 2, 5 or 10 years has suddenly dissapeared - you don't know what to do etc - aaaarrrgghhh...

Interesting comments here!
FHM and Tracks I think with Emap publishing at the helm Tracks is managed in the same way any of their consumer magazines is operated. Profit first - quality second. A sales team works hard to fill the mag with Ad's, and the publisher is happy and thus neglects what is actually being published - oth...

Surf Mags
Tracks - The Surfers Bible. I didn't realise it was published by Emap (large Pommie publisher). The same publisher that publishes Waves and FHM magazine. However it is the same publisher that publishes New Woman and Slimming and Health magazines too! What do people think of Tracks? Is it the surfers...

Doesn't your post about the cam bring attention to Fairy Bower and thus give Fairy even more exposure?
I agree though. Boo to the cam!

No worries Mate, Litter does make me furious. My old man used to drum the basics into me; manners, respect, politeness etc - all seems like common sense to me now. I guess there are people who have grown up without this guidence and thus do not regard littering as being socially unacceptable? But ev...
