Surfing Canada

Thanks sickpig, yeh I go to Canada about 4 times a year and have never surfed there. I thought it was about time I gave it a go. I hear both coasts are good and there is even good waves off Newfoundland (if you are into dodging icebergs). I have to go to Newfoundland however I think I will give surf...

Anyone surfed Nova Scotia Canada?

Thanks Guys, Yeh I know there is a small surf shop in Halifax (may be the one you are talking about). I know last time I was there the guy was stoked just to have an Aussie surfer drop in. He was going to lend me a wetty and board so I may do that. Yep. Canadian's a great people and will go out of t...

Surfing Canada

Thanks 2nd Reef.

Yeh I think the cold is the big thing. Would have to buy a bloody thick wetty so it may not be worth it. I know the West Coast of Canada gets good waves off Vancouver Island too. Once again I think the cold is an issue. The good thing about cold water locations = lack of crowds.

Anyone surfed Nova Scotia Canada?

Im heading to Nova Scotia, Canada in April and want to know if it's worth taking a board. Has Anyone surferd there, or know someone who has? I understand a few of the Quicksilver guys including TC did a trip there and reported great, uncrowded (but cold) waves. Can anyone verify?

I surfed Barbados when hurricane Katrina was moving towards USA. I got some of the best waves of my life. Both the East and West sides of the island were firing. Soup Bowls is a great wave on its day, however when its big it gets heavy (see Slater in Campaign 2 out at heavy Soup Bowls). Yes the loca...

When its crowded an you are going for a wave with a million groms in the way just scream and yell your head off as you paddle. ARRRRRRRRR. You will soon scare all the groms out of the way.

Ive seen it work a treat for Nick Carroll out at Newport Peak.

If in doubt re bottom shape, talk it through and leave it up to your shaper. I personally find that when in doubt, keep it minimal ie not too deep if you are using concave. The 'trend' at the moment is for single concaves, however it appears some of the pros (eg Mick Fanning) are now asking for some...

I have got to know Hayden over the past couple of months. He is a top guy who has a passion for his craft. I have a mate who has travelled the world with a quiver of about six of Hayden's boards over the past year, and he swears they are the best boards he has had. The boards have all been consistan...

I am always thirsty for info on what boards the pros are riding, and on board design in general. Go to Transworld Surf mag web site and type 'Quiver' in the search. Up will pop past issues of the mag that have a feature on a different pros quiver each month. Most pros boards are designed and made fo...
