Some are just slower scrollers than others, maybe you need the exercise?

There's another second gone, gotcha!

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Now to the beach tests of the SurfSafe and SharkShield Freedom7 devices: The GWS = German White Shepherd put one foot into the larger pool with the SharkShield Freedom7 device and then refused to step into it again. I did not record that first step in and it was quite unspectacular. The GWS then pro...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

The results of the various tests I have done to compare the SurfSafe and the SharkShield Freedom7 are all completely consistent and conclusive: The SharkShield Freedom7 delivers much more powerful electric impulses into the water than the SurfSafe. But first, some experiments performed on a dry dini...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Today I have been testing and comparing the SurfSafe and SharkShield Freedom7 for effectiveness against attack by a GWS. Here is a picture of the GWS, a SharkShield Freedom7, a SurfSafe mounted to a piece of timber, and a near irresistible bait: http://forum.realsurf.com/forums/download/file.php?mod...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

The "Freedom7" arrived yesterday, less than 72hrs after ordering it on-line. The "Surf Safe" device turned up on Friday, even quicker than the Shark Shield Freedom7, which was ordered Wednesday early morning. I had a test surf with the Freedom7 yesterday. The experience is somewhere between an elec...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Assuming that there are 226000 surfers in Australia, then there would need to be 15 to 16 shark attack related deaths per year in Australia to put the risk into the same order of magnitude as the risk of dying in a road traffic accident. However, the number of surfers frequenting the area from Evans...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

. so i at least hope it's a fairly neutral solution like drum lines and nets, Drum lines and nets is probably the least neutral solution because of the indiscriminate killing of bycatch. Thats the worst of all possible worlds. Some sort of non-lethal approach would be best, but if any animal is goi...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Here is a link to yet another electronic shark deterrent device: http://bluvand.com/shop/bluvand/noshark-surf-version/# Has anyone here tried one out? I think it was formerly known as ESDS : http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Surfing/Shortboards/Electronic-Shark-Defence-ESDS/ http://www.esdshawaii.c...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Like do any of youse even have a clue how often (or not) you've been checked out by sharks while surfing? A shark knows you're in the water way before you'll ever see it. Mostly it won't come anywhere near your sensory circle and if it does, it's probably because it doesn't give a shit about you an...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

I'm wondering how MrMik is planning to compare the SharkShield to the surfboard implant. I'm pondering how to best use electronic equipment to measure the voltage, wave form, frequency and maybe field strength emitted by the devices in vitro. I have no intention whatsoever to use any sharks for tes...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Also came across some advertorial announcing that they will make a Shark Shield version to be built into a surf board, ETA early 2016.. The guy that owns Katana Surfboards in Perth already has Surfsafe which is built in and rechargeable. http://surfsafe.net.au Installation vid.http://surfsafe.net.a...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

I haven't personally. Although starting to see lots of black and white striped boards. I'd investigate shark repellents, whats out there Mr Mik? The only promising one I have found so far is the SharkShield device. Ordered a "Freedom7" yesterday from their website https://www.sharkshield.com/ , but...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I wear a full wetsuit most of the time in Summer. It looks like other suits, but is a custom made from the thinnest superstretch neoprene. It's basically a stinger suit that does not flap around and does not fall to pieces within a season. No need to use greasy sunscreen, no rash from wax or deck gr...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

I'm actually at a fair bit of peace with being part of the food chain, hopefully not too soon though. Daughter asked me the other day if I'd like to be buried or cremated. I said cremated and when she asked why I said because I wanted my ashes scattered at Lennox point so the fish could feed on me....

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

And as soon as the money is spent, it becomes clear what the differemce must be: The Freedom7 is used with feet or whole body under water. The Surf7 allows operation with feet out of the water. Probably different placement or construction of one of the electrodes.

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

My daughter and her friends got buzzed by a big shark Fri. All Ballina beaches closed today after multiple GWS sightings. What do you mean with getting buzzed by a shark? Passed them at close range. They all saw it. people on the beach saw it. Wow, you must be nervous to say the least. I managed to...
