Re: Where are they now ??????

I must admit, TKK, I read that the sick way too. However, marrying his (as in Joey Cabell's daughter) is much better. In the video from 1999 Noosa Festival of Surfing, they say he (Joey Cabell  ) is 70. So add 10 years and he's pretty close to 80. Glad he's still surfing. Gives me ano...

Re: Where are they now ??????

This might be going back a bit further than the original poster intended, but the attached clip shows Farrelly, Doyle, Dooley, Cabell and Richards from the 1964 Manly World Titles Final at Noosa in 1999.Nice footage, artistically intermingled with the 1964 stuff. Joey Cabell would be almost 80 now. ...

Re: All Bar One

Choosing to surf near someone on an otherwise empty beach could also be a subconscious decision to "reduce the odds" of getting eaten (however remote a chance it is). Obviously this theory holds little stock in any metro areas. I was always very happy to see a couple of boogie boarders turn up at t...

Re: FREE SUNNIES!

Again Chrisb, not sure what your problem is, however i thought this forum was all about swapping, selling etc. mesurf is giving away 10 pairs of sunnies thus cannot see this a reason to have that information removed. If others are unhappy with this placement, then please remove. Pretty simple reall...

Nick....
Oh God!
I feel so bad.
I'm obviously an outcast.
I NEVER paddle into the same break as where others are surfing. (if there's an alternative)I'd rather surf a lesser break by myself.
I'm a failure. My life is over.

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?

nulla correct. maybe abt 1956? Feb 1967 actually. In 1956 I was 8 years old and couldn't have driven there. My first trip to Sydney. Left the Goldie on Sunday of Australia Day Weekend and drove through the remnants of a cyclone. I had met a guy in the surf up there called Paul Parsons who li...

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?

I'd forgotten the meatworks. Vaguely remember the pics in the RSL. Haven't been there for a long time - probably 1967 was the last time I surfed there. Here's somewhere else from about the same time. Boy it has changed, now. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll46/TrevG27/1967point.jpg Any guesses? ...

Well if we look at today Swellnet said 1-2' to start then to 4' later where CW said 0.7' I got to Fwater @ 9:30 it was above waist high, by the time I got in the water it was consitantly head high with rides from the centre right down into the alley for those skillful enough, even on short boards. ...

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?

Congratulations Chris. Byron Bay Whaling Pier it is (was). Boy there were lots of guesses. It was a scary place to surf because, although whaling had stopped it wasn't all that long ago (pic taken in 1966). Sharks still hung around for the scraps. They stopped using it in 1962...

Re: Santa's Present

Steve, I was up the SC on Thursday 11 December and didn't notice any super long range N/NE groundswell in the water. It was puss, onshore and weak windswell. Although I didn't hang around for 30 minutes to see if the super long range sets were there? In fact I didn't even get wet that morning.....d...
