Right you are PP. It's definitely short for pearl diving.
As opposed to Lobster diving which is usually executed mid ride from the top of the wave.

To me they are kind of two sides of the same coin. The same Hawaiian who punches the shit out of you will be inviting complete strangers to his family luau the next day. This fits with my general motto for Polynesian People. Good people to be on the good side of, bad people to be on the bad side of.

I reckon the further removed you are from what a journo is writing about the more reasonable it seems.

Yep. Nice to have a bulletproof board around to just chuck in the back without too much to worry about.

Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?
Come on Nick. You have been around long enough to know this is a Hawaiian idea that gained traction about the time you and the rest of the burgeoning pro scene started their attack on The North Shore. Rabbit used to use face measurements, McTavish did. Every surfer I knew in Northern NSW did and all...

Re: Ask Carroll
How about yourself any fight's since you used to punch up your younger brother? If you did? The last fight I had was about a decade ago and wasn't as such, it involved a v heavy Hawaiian, he wanted to fight and I didn't, so I let him hit me. You can get away with that if you know how. The punch was...

Re: Ask Carroll
Yeah I was reminiscing about some hyjinks we used to get up to and remembered finding a bunch of skins lying theatrically in a shop front in Newtown looking out of it so I picked up a garbage bin that was near them and emptied it on top of them. Then we ran off. Don't know if it was the same bunch w...

Re: blues. Not since the 80s. Funnily enough all around band venues. Two around the Trade Union Club and one near the Landsdowne. The ones around the Tradie were with a pack of skinheads and the other one was with two aborigines. It's funny about the skinheads because it was only recently when I was...

Re: Ask Carroll
Good to see Gynge still remains a Bondi surf mongrel for all his pedigree gloss. That's a better blue than you see in the surf out there. I kind of like Packers fighting stance. He presents as an almost cartoon like fighting figure. Although not with his fat arse in the air being restrained by his m...

Nick do you think James had the stamina to really flatten Gynge or do you think Gynges surf fitness would see him come out on top in the long run?

Re: FUTURE and FCS patent fins
Yu might like to check out IP Australias Site. Its got a lot of good information about copyrights and stuff like that.
Anyone reckon it would be worth buying a board with a set of speeeed fin plugs?
Second time now Ive seen a sweet looking unit and thought nah, not worth the trouble.

Coastalwatch Today: In a word its pumping.
Stars?
One.
Very true however as most of the Eastern Suburbs wouldn't handle the swell at the moment.
Seems to have dropped off this arvo from the cams anyway.

Yeah, Bondi close outs, yeah.
Great to be back somewhere that doesn't hold any swell at all and the only ones who take off on set waves are Irish backpackers.
Must give them a distorted view of surfing really.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Surprised to see a very few little waves with offshore winds today so ended up having a paddle. First surf for the year in a steamer I think. Water is still lovely and warm. Caught a couple of grovellers.
