Re: Bonzers

I'll say it now for the record. Just buy some FCS bonzer fins ($160 Aud) and don't bother cutting down fins. You want the cant of the bonzer fins.
This is coming from a fin junkie!

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Thanks to Rasta & wiki for this: In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection.[2] The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete".[3] It is a concept derived from t...

Re: Midlengths

I know JaM, the trope of the dedicated journeyman shaper, endlessly refining his craft and producing objects of great beauty and practicality, is a wondrous thing. But once its done its available to any two bit entrepreneur with some contacts in asia. Ain't that the truth! Beanie, I can talk about ...

Re: Midlengths

FYI have a look at the new Ocean and earth 7'6" softie they just made. Really flat rocker and feels almost like a normal board under the arm. no bloated rails on it. I ride it finless for shits and giggles. The MR twinnies they have just made are the same...for a softie they are a real eye opener. C...

Re: Midlengths

I like the Walden mini magic 7'2". There's a local guy who rides one as an equalizer for the wave hogging longboard crew. He loves it...excellent wave catcher apparently.

High performance longboarding... no just no.
Show me a competent surfer on a hp longboard and I'll show you a crutch riding wave hog.

Re: Midlengths

If anyone has a hard on for a Christenson flat tracker 2.0 shaped by Chris (as opposed to ghost shaped) I have an 8'er I have ridden all of 3 times with a sweet fcs whip connect 8' fin for 1K.
My bad lower back prefers the looseness of twinnies.

Re: Midlengths

Good stuff. It looks like a very dependable shape (I felt it up in the shop but already have a couple that fit in that slot) that should cover a broad wave spectrum and size range. Let us know how you like it.

Re: Midlengths

The one I linked belongs to one of the staff I've known for decades. He has a 6'4" he loves in the stock dims (surfs it well and looks good underfoot) he was curious how a 6'10" would go but found the 6'10" without dropping the stock litreages was too much foam for his liking.

Re: Midlengths

I know where there' 2 x 6'10" Sea gypsies that have only been ridden 2 or 3 times. One is a 2+1 and the other a thruster. Both in stock 6'10" dims I believe. Look on gumtree. They are both at Alexandra headland Beachbeat surfshop. here ya go:https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/alexandra-headland/surfing...

Re: Midlengths

Still got my trusty 7'6" vquad (tri-plane bottom) that I have had for years. It's a yard stick that I use to measure any other mid length I ride. It's 21" x 2&3/4". It's a Woosley branded board shaped by local shaper John Mills who shapes for Beachbeat. It's a board that goes in everything and since...

I'm still here. I just haven't been able to log in ages despite trying. Tried sending messages to the forum mods etc and never had a response. Just had another crack and got a temporary password and was able to log in.

Re: Fish

Same weight as before. 6'1" and 93 kgs. Riding dirt bikes doesn't trouble my back so just rode them more instead. Pop up has suffered. Still paddle fit. Hyper extension of the spine while paddling is not good for me. When I can keep my chest lower on the board my back feels better for it. Only poste...

Re: Fish

After a year out of the water with spondylolethesis (can never spell it right) which basically means a bad lower back with sciatic pain I'm back in the water. As we speak jAM71 is doing his bit in community service by picking up a DMS quad fish in a foam fest 6'8" from near him to ride while I get m...
