Re: Forum, contact or site for C. American travel n real estate?
A few considerations would be proximity to an international airport. A 2.5 hour drive from airport to destination would be around the maximum. I am also looking for somewhere that has sustainability and conservation in mind with good environmental policies... Unfortunately surf tourism has been incr...

Re: Forum, contact or site for C. American travel n real estate?
Oaxaca region is certainly on my list of places in Mexico to visit. Been to Baja Sur and Nayarit so far, both had their pros and cons.

Forum, contact or site for C. American travel n real estate?
Anyone know a helpful forum, contact or web site for Central American surf travel and real estate? I'm a west coast Canadian who has spend ten years off and on surfing on Vancouver Island, which has grown exponentially more expensive and busy during that time. I'm also 40 now and throwing on a wet w...

Re: How does anyone afford Kauai if not camping?
Worked out well overall.. The weather on the north was pretty shite, a lot of rain and the rivers turning all the water murky. The points were crowded and competitive and cold. However on the south side I scored good surf around Poipu and Kekaha, along with sunny weather and clear waters with few su...

Re: How does anyone afford Kauai if not camping?
Perhaps not this time. I was suppose to fly next week and the forecast that looked good yesterday turned a 180 today with now a lot of rain and on shore wind. Looks like they are still in major flood recovery with the hwy closed beyond Hanalei. Bummer

How does anyone afford Kauai if not camping?
Flight and vehicle rental were reasonable... When I started doing a search for accomm I was blown away. Average $200-300 a night at most hotels. $75 to sleep in the back of a van in a parking lot at the beach on AirBNB, not a lie. $100 to sleep in a tent with a mattress on the ground on some guys pr...

Where is the surf at!?
Not in BC; it's prolly been the worst swell season I can remember up this way... At least there's often decent surf when you're freezing... not so much this year... Good thing I'm skiing

Re: Price to go out for food on the North Shore of Oahu in April?
I think I'm more worried about north shore traffic than the price from food. From what I hear and read it's a zoo.

Re: Price to go out for food on the North Shore of Oahu in April?
Costa Rica was a bit of a punch in the testicles as food was costing me around 60 a day.

Price to go out for food on the North Shore of Oahu in April?
I can get a cheap flight, cheap car rental and would likely camp and stay with a friend for a a decent portion of the trip... but seeing as I'd be coming from Canada and our dollar is pretty weak right now I'm concerned that I'd be absolutely savaged by the price of restaurants, cafes and eateries. ...

Ripcurl Flashbomb E5: size up or down?
I'm kind of in that ML/LS range ... but I can buy a large or a medium at the shop... large sizing chart shows I'm perfect measurements for that suit in the chest and waist area... though for weight, height, arm and leg length I'm close to a medium....

2016 Ripcurl flashbomb 5.5mm vs new flasbomb 5mm
I was looking at a 2016 ripcurl flashbomb 5.5mm that I can get for 20% off... looks like it was discontinued and the new 5mm has more E5 lining coverage that now includes the chest and the arms... Any idea how this would compare for warmth, flexibility and weight? I owned an older flashbomb 5mm from...

Re: Good month for Baja Sur - Pacific West Coast
Yah, solo. I did my last 2 mexican trips and the costa rica trip solo. The first trip to Baja I had rented a car not a 4x4 or AWD and plus I had a foot injury and it was shortly after that massive cat 4 storm crippled the entire region so I stayed pretty close to the Todos Santos area... with a side...

Re: Good month for Baja Sur - Pacific West Coast
I'm scared of getting lost in the desert on some random dirt road if I take a wrong turn and then die horribly. There do seem to be a number of breaks north of La Pastora, but in the middle of no where quite aways from the highways
