Re: 2+1 boards

...are unreal. As the other guys have alluded to, whether it goes well will have more to do with the board than the fins, IMO. My good wave board is a 2+1, but so is my 'Fark, is it even worth going out?' board... If you are getting a traditional single shape, with the 2 of the 2+1 mainly as trainin...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

GC pointbreak, but not that one. Was teaching a 13 yr old to surf for the first hour, had him getting 5sec rides consistently within 30 mins so that was great to see the stoke. Got some decent ones. Was already overhead and maybe a touch more by mid-morning. Bit of morning sickness, but the building...

Yep, CCs on the money.
I got one too, but mine's for somewhere else and another time, perhaps.
I've got another one that needs dusting off...

Re: Christmas holidays at the beach - in 50 years

Sucks about your Dad, Trev. Good way to go, though, even if it does cast a pall over what should be a happy time. Toast him and enjoy the day. And, with inflation, imagine how much for one of Roy's boards. Depends if his prices keep pace. If they are fixed, as the figures are derived from frequencie...

Christmas holidays at the beach - in 50 years

As many families around Australia are looking forward to a beach holiday, I was thinking about how things will be when my kids are taking their kids to the beach. What do you reckon your holiday (or local) beach will look like in 50 years? What about the surrounding area, i.e. shops etc? And how do ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

How'd the new Outback travel? Looks in good nic. New (to me) Outback goes great, I look forward to taking it to the same spot. That's a 6yr old Forester in the pic, and not mine.. Clearance was a bit of an issue on the way back, after the bogans doing fishtails in their real 4wds had cut the crap o...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Had a bloody sweet adventure yesterday morning. It was mostly a reccy for a later trip. Found some reasonable banks and some better gutters. If you know where these were taken, kindly don't mention it in the open forum... https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-n1JcsWRZHQw/Tu6EyH8HhJI/AAAAAAAAAEo/PY9zjq5...

Surfrider members may have seen this already, but Chad Nelsen and colleagues have recently put out a report on the economics of surfers and surfing in the US. http://www.surfrider.org/coastal-blog/entry/a-socioeconomic-and-recreational-profile-of-surfers-in-the-united-states The full report can be l...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

What happened to their No Sucka guarantee? Update on my O'Neill Psycho 2 (back zip). All in all, it's a great suit. Very warm, I feel the cold and I've worn it when others are in 4/3s. The neck closure is the only problem. The smooth stuff on the inside of the neck doesn't like to bond to the batwin...

Don't worry AJ, it's a game of two halves, I'll come out swinging. The third quarter is the championship quarter.

Thanks Trev for a considered response. I got yours too...

Re: BAD people in the Industry

Bloody hell Trev, let the man fight his own battles. I don't disagree with anything you've said, just the fact you always seem to feel the need to say it. If anyone wants to use a forum to promote or even just discuss their own products, they have to take the good with the bad. Same rules for everyo...

Re: PIPE

Got some friends over there watching it live. They reckon it's ten times gnarlier than on TV. The beach literally shakes. Your friends are right. Pipe on the webcast is a fcuken pale shadow of itself in person. Really, it is. You want to watch with that in mind. Absolutely. I haven't seen Pipe good...
