Re: Ask Carroll

Not to be too hippy/hipster/paltrowy, but spiders apparently do not like the smell of lemon (or any citrus). So if you get some essential (ie natural not artificial) lemon oil and dilute it and dab it around the car, you get both a spider repellent and a nicer smelling car (better than the chemical...

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, I have had an abundance of arachnid life, of the large hunstman variety hanging around and in my car of late. Have had 4 seperate occasions where they have ran either over my windshield or side window on the outside or inside in the past month. Each has resulted in a moment of panic, followed ...

bali forecast

Heading to bali next weekend for 2 weeks. Anybody have any directions where i might find a long term forecast to help me decide what boards to take? will keep an eye on it up until last minute, but it's looking like i can only take 2 boards, so either an all rounder and a smaller wave board, or and ...

Re: New bay - fresh sled

cpt - had about 4 surfs on it now and it's feeling really good on my forehand, backhand its been a bit hit and miss, had some magic turns, and a few bogged turns as well, but to be fair the lefts i've surfed it in have been kinda tricky waves to surf backside, so i'll keep persevering. frontside tho...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Fcuk a duck! That was mental. I got a wave, kicked out and suddenly the horizon was just stacked with lines. In the space of five minutes it went from the odd overhead set to a consistent and very solid 6-8. Boom. I've never seen a crowd thin out so fast. If the wind plays nice overnight it's going...

Re: New bay - fresh sled

haha lucky ya found it! yeah i build up a kick at the back with 4 extra strips of cork. the pad grips really well - but its more harse feeling than a bought one. I have a permanent scab/ulcer on my big toe i think where it rubs on my pad getting up, and it got torn up big time. the big fin is a surf...

Re: New bay - fresh sled

finished. surfs good. might wanna try some bigger quads I think. tried a new layup - cerex, hexdek, 4oz, cork deck - couple of footwells forming after 2 surfs but nothing major. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/s526x395/10461388_683029385066286_6754800247684542279_n.jpg ...

Re: New bay - fresh sled

sneak peak - laser etched graphics and tail pad. neither came out perfect, but will work for my board. got some tweaking to do with my techniques on the machine to get it working sweet! https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/1526920_680512875317937_4517638416589055036_n.jpg ht...

Re: Fiji 2014

Carroll the great apologist for high paid mediocrity. Steph Gilmore is on over a million a year. Fitzgibbon et al are making decent coin. With that kind of money and looking at the schedule why couldn't they do a few trips to Cloudbreak and get fully dialed into that reef? Someone getting paid a mi...

Re: New bay - fresh sled

scot - not specifically for the point break you mention, but it was in the back of my mind for sure! I now have access to a lazer cutter / etcher - so i'm figuring it out at the moment - then going to go to town on etching the cork before i bag it on this one. i.e. - burnt graphics and traction pad ...

man these presenters/commentators are sterile! Peter Mel's off siders make him look like a punk. And he's the most boring sterile bloke around (apart from his off siders)

it looks more like a mormon convention panel than surfing panel.

it's still not glassed, but i fair butchered an attempt at a new to me technique of doing carbon rails - lucky the mess will be hidden by some cork! haha

might try and get it in the bag over the weekend actually.
