Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

All over the news this morning pretty scary. Shark didn't look that big but all the news outlets are using the picture of the tail sticking out of the water makes the shark look bigger than it is.

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick I have just read over a promotion for surfing with Mark Occhilupo in the Mentawais or Maldives. All of it is a standard sales pitch for the resort except one part caught my attention. "Daily surf sessions hosted by living legend Mark Occhilupo, with tips, points and some great line-up banter ."...

Re: Ask Carroll

Kelly is trying to set an example i hope.
Freesurfers as a commodity could be Rasta, Craig Anderson etc I guess the true form would be the person who goes to indo etc to never be seen again.

Re: Ask Carroll

Was drafted by the Boston Celtics after years of struggling teamed up with The Big Ticket Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to lead the Celtics and win the Championship defeating the L.A. Lakers. Now at 38 and in the...

Nick I noticed Uluwatu is going to be the location of a QS event. Probably a CT quality wave. If you could pick any 11 locations for next years Dream Tour without factoring any economics of hosting an event. Where would they be and why?

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick I have heard about the rip curl gps watch and surfers using them to log data of their session. Waves caught, distance traveled and speed. How is this data useful for any surfer? From personal experience I tend to rate my surfs on the quality of the waves caught, analysing myself where I went wr...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

By midday the swell had increased in size. Ulus had about 6 out at the bombie, Impossibles was nicely lined up, again about 6 out who were just getting repeatedly nailed by some of the biggest sets I've ever seen there. Padang Padang had 50 odd in the water, but only about half the set waves were b...

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick how does a surfer bridge the skill gap between Intermediate and Advanced. Time in the water is a given but there must be other skills intermediate surfers can nurture to enhance their skill set. To further expand their surfing experience. Wow what a fantastic question. I can only draw on what ...

Re: Ask Carroll

So yeah, most of the time the best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun. Because that surfer has developed the skills and senses that allows a deeper engagement with the session as a whole. And when it comes to riding the great waves at a high level, that's where the true gold of surf...
