Re: Where did you surf today ?

A wind surfer would have been ideal in those conditions, just use the ledge to launch a big 20' air down the line of the face.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It's probably because the design is so essentially unresponsive, it just sits there and the chop hits it to no avail. The Surftech materials are good at faking responsiveness so the poor thing was forced to twitch and bounce around like a horse with batteries in the saddle. But it was still basical...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I think I'm falling in love with the Margaret River coastline. It's so pure and undeveloped along the foreshore. Unlike other places on the coast (including most of the NSW coast) it seems to be getting better not worse. Bali is frightening for it's coastal atrocities, it's a pig sty. My mate has 12...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I think there were a 6'6, 7' and 7'6. They were all really thin and narrow with too much rocker for me. The 7'6 was about 40l I think, that's Nick's territory.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

that looks really good to my eye. I never have trouble with my McCoys handling chop. I found the loaded dome bottom exceptional for reliable, neutral handling in chop/bump. OK great, it was remarkably large chop and steps, I've never surfed anything half as bad. Main break is well overhead and pret...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I'm thinking of buying a semi-gun for around here as there's usually chop on the faces and McCoys don't really handle it well. It's no problem in Bali where it glassy or a few little ripples over 90% of the time. It would only be for up to double overhead, some local shapers seem to have this sort o...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yals just overhead this morning, one big double a sign of things to come. First time so far of smoothish faces, closing out though so not worth paddling out.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well overhead this morning but big steps in the faces, more time bouncing around trying to stay on my board than holding a rail.

Small for the protected bays, but a few bigger ones. Perfect weather. I'm starting to enjoy it down here, in fact as soon as I learn to surf again it'll be great.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Heavy chop, big steps on the face. SW in at 9am, but it was there all the time just offshore.

Sets overhead, got a few but way too choppy, staying on your feet was the main challenge.

Off to see some mates and keep an eye on what's happening

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yallingup 6am, conditions much the same as last night. No wind, shoulder high bumpy and crumbling, four out, watched for 15 minutes, no waves ridden. No point in wasting my time checking elsewhere, swell too small for the protected spots. Forecast is 5 stars, current rating half a star. May really f...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

As I haven't surfed around here for a while I don't think I'll surf by myself. After a while though familiarity will probably breed contempt.
