Steroids will probably only help to make lying on your board more comfortable by making your balls smaller. They are a growth hormone --> They will make your muscles bigger of you do weight training. All of the fastest and most agile surfers are slim and light in build. The wave has less mass to pus...

Re: Exercise besides surfing?

Just wondering if many of you do other forms of exercise/sport besides surfing? Speaking for myself pretty much all i do is surf..averaging about 4 surfs a week. Occasionally i will go for a run if i haven't been able to get in the water. Do youuussee reckon surfing is enough to keep you adequately...

Great deconstruction and analysis. That would do good to be submitted to a media organisation like SMH or an online news site? I haven't seen the movie yet, but I could imagine that it would gain insight into how disadvanted people living in a surf culture deal with their circumstances. The problem ...

A great quote about surfing

I was just watching a surfing movie which explores what surfing means to different people and came across this quote that I thought was magnificant. It makes perfect sense to me. "Heal yourself, heal your family, heal the world, and don't forget to go surfing." - John Peck I had never heard of John ...

Personally I believe that surfing while under the influence of anything but amphetamines would be a little too dangerous. Anything that effects your decision making and reaction time could predispose you to an accident in an environment where it is easier than you think to drown. I have a friend who...

Shite, I feel ill :? Thats definately going to make me pick free range meet whenever I can. I don't think it would be enough to make me go vegan. The protein and iron that I get from meat is pretty important to me as an athlete, and hey, it tastes good. Maybe I would be healthier as a vegan, who kno...

It could be true, not many people dare to be average and humble if they can surf well. From most good surfers I come across theres always a small chip on their shoulder - e.g. paddling to the inside of people, bad looks when you miss a wave that they were also paddling for, blatant disrespect to bod...

I guess flow does come from the quote "too much mind". Its a bit of an elusive thing to a lot of people, but the only way to get there is practice I guess. Heres my little story. If you can't be bothered reading then just jump below to below the line to my final thoughts on flow: Bad flow when I was...

Your worst wipeout or heaviest situation in the surf

I did a search and was suprised to find that noone had started a "whats your worst wipeout?" thread. So, here it is! I thought I would add "your heaviest situation" as well. A single wipeout can seem like nothing, but if its your 8th wave on the head, you're cramping up, and you're being washed over...

I've definately experienced my load of depression for 23 year old. I won't go into its particular causes seeing as I barely know anyone here. There were multiple factors in my life at the time that really needed sorting through. For me it was a combination of negative thinking and quite a few signif...

First surf in 2foot junk was really good!

Super responsive and a lot of drive. I was suprised that the responsiveness didn't come at a price of loosing some drive.

Now I have to wait until thursday to give it a test in some real pointbreak juice! :D

Cheers for the help guys! Thats exactly what I wanted to hear. I was worried it would be a "you're going to get what you pay for. hes a new-comer with a lot to learn" response. I'll see how he goes! Drew Anderson surfboards (any opinions?)

Hey people, hows it going? I just snapped my stick and I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment so I thought I'd try a Drew Anderson custom. Hes only charging $425 for customs out of a surf shop near the city. Any opinions of how his boards go? Is he a new guy on the block or has he got some experi...
