Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Are the other differences beyond phase 1 having a single fin and phase 2 being a thruster?

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I like the look of the zot and some of geoffs ideas but having ridden a single fin nugget i found that the design theory didnt consistently translate to my reality.....which happens when you experiment with different designs of course. didnt look well ridden at all to me..............when i got it....

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Buzzy, good points. When i mentioned that i havent seen anyone ripping on a mccoy i wasnt referring to cheyne et al......because he could shred on a dunny door. I was referring to us, guys who surf their local regularly. :D check out the link a few posts back. james llewyn or something is his name....

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Cheyne Horan was surfing a nugget at the Quicky Pro at Snapper earlier this year in front of the cameras for the legends event. He seemed to go as well as any of the other old pros. His board did noticeably have more volume than some of the others but then again Mr X, for instance, was surfing a bo...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

the first wave wipe out over the falls is a good one. :-) i didnt have a rational reason to not like the AZ, watching that video I now do. slow and to get the thing to turn the its taking a lot of effort in what look like decent strength waves. stick 4 fins on the thing and see what happens it can o...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

if he did it wouldnt then be a mccoy.

personally i just think its geoff marketing. traditional boards for those that are looking for that.

if someone is looking for a more modern take on a surfboard they are probably not considering a mccoy anyway.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Bought an Ebomb e3 pro for $400 from mosman shop. Never had to contact rip curl for repairs. Which means no problems with the wettie. No issues buying there again if the price is right.

The dryer will fcuk it. I lay down my wettie on underfloor heated tiles and it melted the glued tapering over the seams.

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I don't like the zot and only have ridden one once. I have a 6'0 DE single which is a a dead ringer for a zot on a diet. It is more forgiving on a balanced ride.

Try putting weight on the front foot on a zap and it's off you go!
