Re: Where did you surf today ?
Santa Cruz, paddled out at Jacks as the tide was high and I'll be fcuked if I am going to try getting back in at 33rd avenue with the waves smashing into the stairs.
Surf was okay, day off for tomorrow and Friday

Re: General snow stuff
Current predictions are another winter of above average precipiatation for California.
I really enjoyed snowboarding even though I found it bloody hard. My boy is itching to go again so a trip is definitely on the cards

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I was at Pleasure Point but it's pretty much the same. I've had some decent dings from this place in the last 3 years with boards getting smacked into rocks/stairs from waves coming in Once on a big day I paddled all the way from Jacks to Privates to get out safely - it was going with the current so...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Santa Cruz. Not a fan of surfing here at high tide as getting in and out is sketchy but it was decent 4 - 6 foot of swell

Re: Destinations to combine parental leave & surf trip
Southern California potentially. Base yourself in San Diego, better swell at that time. Water will be cold but I know that won't bother a Victorian

Re: skateboarding ...
I assembled a 41" longboard a little while ago. Bamboo Drop Through deck (no pivot) and some huge 90mm super soft 78A wheels on Caliber trucks I wanted something I could do when the surf is flat that keeps me moving but is more enjoyable than running on a treadmill. I was never into skating as a kid...

Re: Ears
I had shingles about 14 years ago which I reckon was triggered by work stress that was putting me on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Cluster was on my temple which meant I had a continuous 24/7 migraine that felt like a truck driving out of my head for 10 or so days. Worst pain I have ever felt, wa...

Re: Sending a board overseas
Anyhoo I got my board over to California.
Packed it in bubble wrap, folded cardboard for the rails and tail and a big chunk of foam for the nose. Didn't get a scratch on it.
Kudos to Air New Zealand, the whole process was flawless
