Re: Winter Guns... Wherefore art thou ..?
Have had many experinces with this over the years, my last experience with this was over Easter, the day after the bigger day at Crescent Head beach break, I took a 6'8 semi gun on a 6 foot day which I could have easily surfed on my step up 6'4. Because of this I was able to catch most of the set/be...

Re: Maldives surf trip...
Just came back from a 11 day trip on board of the Hamathi, if you are stuck on the Northern Atolls, be ready for 4 boats on each break, however if your boat can and will travel to Central and South Atolls, be ready for some super fun uncrowded waves with just you and the crew on your boat. This trip...

Re: Fiji 2014
And the intro music when they present all the different locations, it's awful !!! and the Hollywood type of signs for each location, terrible. That american dude Pat Pratnell, no clue. Strider no clue. I was kinda liking Joe Turpel but nah, he relies on Pottz too much. Overall he new look and feel i...

Re: Longboard disgust
For me the issue with longboarders in general is the ones that are fit and can get all the set waves in 1 to 4 foot surf because of the extra flotation...and now the SUPs: a more f%$@#$ up ratio of flotation to body weight/ability. What's next the WAVEJETS ? In my opinion and this goes to the SUP an...

Hey I don't mind a couple of them, in fact I really enjoy a few things from them, Peter Mel for example, examines a lot of competitors boards, I think I have learned a couple of things from him. I also respect the fact that he charges. Pottz is very cool too, he also likes to put things in perspecti...

Re: Ask Carroll
Hi There, why is the bommie outside long reef called German bank ?
I am also curious why the inside of Bells is called Rincon like the wave in California ? Did we fail to come up with an original name ? I would hate to think that is the case.
Thanks in advance for your answer/s
cheers

Re: Mentawais Vs Maldives
Thanks guys, hey Don I may trouble you closer to the date (sail the first of June). The boat (The Hamathi), will be going from Male to Laamu and anything in between for 11 days and fly back to Male, I am hoping that once we move away from the Male area the crowds will thin down.

Re: Mentawais Vs Maldives
Created this post 4 + years ago and just wanted to revive it as I did went to the Mentawis on June 2010 and now I am heading to the Maldives in early June. Please bear with me as I am having a couple of cold ones while I write. Thanks to those that gave me some feedback back then and I am reaching f...

Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.
Hi Steve, saying there are problems with Paleo and not outline them from reputable sources is kinda lame. Perhaps you are referring to Food Freaks, then yes, extremes can cause issues. What issues could you get from eating non processed foods like: Protein: eggs, grass fed meats (beef, pork), and fi...

Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.
Mate one word for you: Paleo Go google Robb Wolf Paleo, the original human diet. Lots of examples there with people with diabetes and got rid of it. Low carbs and non processed food, too simple. Buy the book ASAP read it and give it the 30 day trial, assuming you are over 50, 30 days of your life re...

Re: FCS 2 plastic versus tech
In my experience with FCS (not FCS2), is that the plastic ones seem to be heavier and have more flex perhaps on the wrong part of the fin. The PC (Performance core) ones seem to be lighter and stiffer, with flex on the tip not the base of the fin. I used to think the plastic ones had a "sling shot" ...

Re: Go Pros and Surfing
Good point Teppee, the camera does no justice and also I did not "wore it" on bigger days as I wanted to focus on the surf. The little camera can become a distraction when the surf is pumping, that is why I included a coupe of stills my mate took from the shore of the bigger days. On a personal leve...

Re: Which FCS?
I have seen a post heat interview with Kelly where he said that fin size had more to do with tail width than weight, thats why he uses a 5th fin sometimes. Obviously a bigger guy will have a wider tail and will benefit from a bigger fin (i.e PC 7 = 85kgs and up). so the indications from the fin manu...

Re: Minimal to fish transition
Hi there, good advice from your instructor, however do not narrow your options to a fish, I think he may have suggested a fish so you could undertand that in order to go shorter, you need to compensate with going wider and/or thicker, and this is the principle behind a fish. You could have the same ...
