Re: Quiver thread

I've owned a couple of carvers, they are good but not near as good as a similar volumed McCoy nugget.

imo, a bit harder to paddle and catch waves compared to flat or slight concave, but nothing dramatic. Shallow 1-3mm, deep 4-8?

Re: tumbleweed the extended australia trip

Thanks Cranked appreciate that advice. I have just sold a house so need to think of next move. Prob buy a 2/3 bedder apartment on Northern Beaches, rent it out, get the kid lets through school, travel as you say and possibly rent the flat out for 6 months of the year and contract the other until I ...

Re: tumbleweed the extended australia trip

Seriously Davros, my greatest regret is that I spent too much of my time working and feel that I wasted all the best years of my life. That's easy to say but I haven't seriously thought of a way to avoid it. Anything illegal is not a solution because I'd rather be working than be in jail. Also anyth...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I'd like to hear more about things being stochastic. Might have to start some regression analysis Exactly. I'd start with ElasticNet Regression I know you're all familiar with the concept, but here's a quick refresher: ElasticNet is hybrid of Lasso and Ridge Regression techniques. It is trained wit...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Its a real threat down here guys. My experience: 1. A few month ago I was surfing at Gearies. Went out at 1pm, only four people out. Surfed a peak by myself for a while, it felt sharky, so joined the others. Got out of the water at 3:30pm, a great white bit off a guys leg 15 minutes later, he died ...

Right on brother steve. The sharks domain my arse, humans are the apex predator everywhere on planet earth People talk comparative risk but thats not the point, we should, and do, mitigate risk whenever we can. For instancd, we spend billions of dollars mitigating the risk of death and injury in mot...

jimmy you're put into words what I've subconciously felt. It was just the wave though, not the rider. We've all seen quite a few tidal bores, but this is the first one that I've wanted to actually surf, dirty water and all

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I reckon this is the main reason the protection measures were shelved: SBS 1 FEB 2014 - 2:11 PM UPDATED 1 FEB 2014 - 7:21 PM The biggest event was at Cottesloe Beach, one of Western Australia's most famous beaches, where more than 6,000 people gathered. Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Following a spate of shark attacks, the WA government introduced a 13-week trial in January [2014], where 72 baited drum lines were set off Perth and South West beaches. More than 170 sharks were killed on the drum lines, but none were great whites. The Barnett government applied to Federal Environ...
