I'm looking for recommendations regarding companies to send a board from Brisbane to either Wollongong or Melbourne.
Thanks

Re: larger surf lock
After having my car stolen (forget the magnetic keybox you put under the car) - the spotter on the hill took care of that, I use a surf lock. Usually, the surf lock containing the real key is locked inside the car, and the dummy key is worn on a lanyard out in the surf. Traveling, I take the SL OS t...

Re: Irish surf spot threatened - support the waves
Hello Huie, I'd read in the CM about plans to stabilise the road using technology applied to Pisa's leaning tower. If this isn't what you are referring to, can you post a link so I can read about it? A search using 'Noosa " + "First Point" was too general. A while back they wanted to try an artifici...

Re: latest list of interviews with paipo riders
Mark, I've met Warren - he's a very good mat rider. I believe he has an alaia but doesn't surf it much. Warren follows some of the interviews that we have done. PM me with your e-mail address and I'll see what you were interested to ask warren and I'll see if it fits into the scope. I'm working on a...

Re: Forecasting Vic
Mical, Swell direction can make a lot of difference, however, if the banks are no good you just different direction closeouts. Look for creeks, small irregularities, slight bends in the coast. With swell direction there will refraction, so some spots on the same beach will be bigger or smaller than ...

Re: wind speed and duration data
Don, Thanks. I checked out: http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display_alt.cgi?a=etoz_slp The legend at the bottom is: 0-15, 15-20, 20-25 etc. Is there a way to get exact wind strength , e.g 10 or 23 knots, or is a range the best I'll get? Are surface winds the same as windspeed at sea level? Lastly, t...

wind speed and duration data
I know weather maps have information on wind speed for a weather system and duration for which winds have been blowing can be inferred, however, is there a more precise source for this information?
Suggestions are appreciated,
Bob

Puurri,
have you checked Rod's paipo site lately ( I posted my e-mail address in reply to your post)? I was interested in communicating about your knowledge of bellyboards in Oz etc.
regards

Re: nautical mile distance calculator
Thanks all. Great suggestions. I have been trying to learn a stats program called R and have now a function that does all this and developed a spreadsheet of coordinates for the east coast (mainly) which I can then use to measure distances to a weather system.
Thanks again,
bob

Re: a call for any bellyboggers out there!
Hello, Dick Ash is indeed the creator of the bellybogger. He made a version in the 70s and another in the 90s and continues to make them. In the near future there will be an interview with Dick at: http://www.rodndtube.com/paipo/interviews/Paipo_Interviews.shtml For lots of posts on paipo see: http:...

nautical mile distance calculator
Hello,
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a nautical mile/knot distance calculator. For example, I was wondering if there is a way to calculate the nautical distance between two sets of coordinates.
Any assistance is appreciated,
regards

Terry Gallagher fro Wollongong
Hello,
Has anyone heard of a guy called Terry Gallagher from Woolongong. He used to surf the Boneyard and somewhere called Rockpool Reef. In a blurb from the 90s it said he'd been bellyboarding since the early 60s so he wouldn't be a young guy.
Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated,
Bob
