There's a big solid swell rolling on through. Glassy conditions. Ulus is a bit wonky with only a few out.

I'm just waiting for the tide to change before going out.

I had a Takayama Egg, 7'10, hull, knifey pinched rails.

Thought I might be able to push it at size in the bukit. That wasn't the case. McCoys don't care what size, how critical, or how fast - they love it and just ask for more, no limits. Remarkable boards.

Knocked a fin out of my board on a rock yesterday at low tide. Luckily no damage to the box or surrounds, so just swapped one over from another board.

After nearly three weeks of good surf the swell has been dropping. Hopefully it has reached its nadir today.

Expecting a continuation of head high at the small wave spots, I went out before dawn for a walk up the coast. Got nothing. Looking on the bright side though, I do need a rest.

I walked and climbed the cliffs this morning to check out a remote spot that picks up more swell than anywhere and is protected in a south easter. It was monkey paradise. Waiting for the tide now.

TSA has got it down. 6oz top and bottom, a stringer, way lighter and more durable than glass, but a similar flex pattern - perhaps a bit more flexible than glass.

They do yellow a bit, just get some colour, the price is the same.

Great morning session at an Ulus crowd favourite. Crowded with good surfers. Chest to head high. Because I entered the line-at the top I let a few go by and then got a ripper for about 300m, high speed through every section with about 50 people watching every move, fast as fcuk and loose as a goose....

Around 1 in 5, maybe 1 in 10.
