Re: Re:

Auckland has better waves than Sydney Christchurch and Dunden too... speaking as the former dunny dave from dunedin, i have to ask, have you looked at the water temps (and swell size) down that way? just pretending to be a surfer in dunedin is a heavy commitment. are you already in a 2mm steamer in...

Re: Ask Carroll

I enjoy walking in to their stores on the rare occasion I pass one. Its a bit like Gowings was before it went belly up. These elite high end products for the adventure lifestyle. Couldn't imagine ever buying anything there though. Their wetsuits appear to be built for Antarctica and the boards are ...

Re: Poll - How do you choose a new board?

Then he says - "Step on the scales" i used the webby-net to find out who is the best shaper in the world for my craft, then followed merkin's strategy. it might be time for a visit. the groms were lauging at how be...

Re: Locking surfboard straps

stick a pair of kneeboard pads on your board. you can leave it anywhere, for any length of time and no one will nick it.

if we don't hear from you again, i think it'll be fair to assume you were swallowed by a whale.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

steve, are you left-footed?

a guy in a van was yelling at me as i left my place. turns out he's also kneeboarder. so i threw my board in the back and we had a drive around.
wind was into everything and it was all closing out. i left the board on the sand and went for swim.

Re: Surfing Sunglasses

i've lost one pair that way -- after three years use. i had plenty of warning that the connection was slipping but ignored it. anyway, as soon as you see any movement there -- put some tarzan grip on and it's all fixed. for the vision-impaired "waterman" these things are a miracle. getting a pair of...

they listed and mapped every break in the gong on their second or third issue. i couldn't believe it. some of those breaks you don't even dare look out at when driving past if you're not a local.

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?

width isn't a problem. 24" width fits into the steepest, tightest waves. don't know why, don't know the theory behind it. it's thick and fat under the knees. but very pulled in and thin front and back. not much fin area. you don't need fins. there is plenty of volume to get you on a wave. but they a...

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?

nice wave!
that's easy -- 5'10" x 24" x 2 3/4" rounded pin with flyer, 2+1 set up. nothing better for getting deep on small barrels.
