After further consideration of a number of factors I've abandoned the DIY splitboard project and turned it into a snurfer instead.
Been scoping out lines in local parks.

Yeah, but waverider buoys weren't deployed in Qld until August 1968, and I think 1972 in NSW.

Re: La Nina 20/21
I've got reports of 30ft waves in Sydney in mid-May 1968.
Pine trees were washed away at Brighton le Sands.
Haven't found anything in June?
I'd love to see the pic, it apparently wasn't a major erosion or flooding event.

Sure it wasn't 1967, Nick?
There were about 5 cyclones that year, some of which went extra-tropical.

Well they certainly won't be announcing it before the election.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
There's very little age-growth data for great whites (hard to get a good sample size when your test species is subject to CITES restrictions). And what does exist is difficult to interpret, because they don't seem to lay down age rings in their vertebrae/otoliths/teeth in the normal annual pattern. ...

I support Nick's theory.
These 2-3m sharks that seem to be responsible for the attacks are going to reach breeding age in about 5-10 years.
We might need to come up with a plan for reducing the risk of surfing by that point.

The Qld government was going to trial replacing nets with drumlines but it wasn't due to happen until next year https://www.daf.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/fisheries/shark-control-program/shark-control-and-protecting-non-target-marine-life The current gear location has a net at Coolangatta and dr...

Why are you leaving Cranked? That all seemed like light hearted ribbing. I'm struggling to see what you got upset by, considering how easily you've weathered the storm in the kilojoule and McCoy battles. If you were upset by my joke I apologise. I posted the pic to help out with some terminology I h...

I have built-in bearings with spacers on the inside of the wheel, and speed washers either side.

I can go hulk on the bolts in the wheels without affecting the roll.

No, the nut on the kingpin

If it's too tight then it doesn't turn as much because the bushings are compressed.
If it's too loose then the board is hard to control.

Post em up. You knows the rules.
Cranked I'm just talking about how hard you tighten down on the bushings. I had them too tight to start with.
