Re: J-Bay 2018

My mum gave a pretty great summary of the pool when I showed her that first clip Kelly posted.
Her commentary was as follows.
"Wow, he's a good surfer. Looks cold. Nothing much happens. It's very muddy. He's probably going to get an ear infection."

Re: J-Bay 2018

Regarding the rest of your comment, it seems like Toledo spends more time trimming in the upper third of the wave than most of the others.

Re: J-Bay 2018

http://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/not-sure-if-serious-gif-4.gif The vagaries and emotions of the ocean are far more interesting than even the act of riding the wave. I can watch the ocean for hours, but after 3 waves in the pond I'm offering to do crabmeat's taxes for him. Kelly did an...

Psillakis does a model that's somewhat similar, and is good

Pretty much impossible to tell from the pic he has on the site, but worth a look.

he's a bad parent who kills undersized jewfish, throw him down the well.
There was a Vietnamese family fishing there yesterday, I saved at least 5 from heavy metal poisoning.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Well, aj, unless they've changed it you should be considering another product. Banana boat SPF 50+ is/was not as effective as stated. I'd expect your surfboards will soon be requiring medical attention I got burnt to shit a few months ago wearing banana boat. The worst part was that I'd torn strips...

Re: Tail shape ... what do you prefer?

Fin setup will probably make more difference than tail shape.
The swallow may give you a straighter rail line, depending how wide the swallow is.

Re: Europe in September

I surfed Biarritz in September and didn't take a wettie because the forecast was 19 degrees in the water and 22 air temp.
It was more like 14 for both and I didn't appreciate it in my 0.5mm wetsuit top.

Re: Europe in September

You could get the train to Biarritz in about 4 hours.
It's like the Byron of France.
But really, I would go to an art gallery or two, drink some wine, eat some good bread.

Hakuba was a bit like that in 2000, all these ghost buildings full of furniture that were left over from the Nagano Olympics.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Looks like a tooth from a bull, yeah. DPI marine biologist says it's a white. Very narrow base for a white, but it could be from a juvenile, before they swap to mammals. Normally they are more of an equilateral triangle shape, without the raised central portion. Mind you, my sense of scale is all s...
