Re: Where to live
There's something really heartwarming about this photo.Lucky Al wrote:this is last week. we're planting a port jackson cypress (callitris rhomboidea) in the back yard. how's the soil.
A sense of new beginnings, witnessed by a child too young to understand.
Go Lucky Al Go.

Re: 'Parko's' 10 point ride
Roy, you've enraged the Sydney intelligentsia, and there's nothing more awe inspiring than seeing a pack of internet warriors gang up on a wounded antelope on the savannah. I agree about the 10 point ride. I think a 10 point ride should be completed, and falling off at the end precludes a perfect sc...

Re: 2008 -2009 surf/weather forecast
EC has been on the money for progging the formation and then loses the plot when it comes to the track......so yeah.....looks like by the end of this week if recent form is any guide. I believe it will be TC Ilsa......hmmmm...kind of exotic. Water down here is like a warm bath..... and to be pedanti...

Re: Fiji In June
Wilkes is a very ordinary wave; a sectiony funky thing that never really stands and delivers......it's like surfing a sandbottom point when the sand's not quite right. Namotu is fun over 6ft but pretty boring below that....it seems the kind of wave where nowadays you'd be likely to run into a bunch ...

Re: Fiji In June
Just as a matter of general interest what the fcuck to non surfing spouses do on a tropical island? I mean as long as there's a beach and a well-clothed black servant bringing you a cocktail with a paper umbrella in it everything's roses isn't it? And I guess old Ringer has to perform his marital du...

Re: Fiji In June
Ringers, June is tradewind season so that limits your options. (ie 20-30 knots of SE wind by 10 am every day) Don't know what standard of accom you're looking at but Beqa island off the south coast(near Suva) has boat trips out to Frigates Pass which is protected from the trades somewhat. You'll nee...

Whereabouts are you Saltman? Oh and re: the Sunny Coast. As a former sunny coast local who has done hard time there let me tell you.....do not go there if you cannot handle SERIOUS< SERIOUS flat spells. The kind where you almost forget what a surfboard and a wave is. If you are a keen fisho or have ...

Re: danw's WCT 2009 thread
The really impressive and satisfying thing for Parko fans was the emphatic nature of the victory...after pretty shady performances in rd 4 and quarters he dominated the lineup on a day the average surfer would be lucky to even get to their feet. Finally, a performance which does justice to Parko's p...

Re: danw's WCT 2009 thread
A lot of judging doesn't make perfect sense from the remote angle. It's the nature of surfing to seem a bit wobbly at times as a result of the judges having a different angle view to most spectators. Amazingly, nobody seemed to take this issue on today. Correct me if I'm wrong Nick , but don't the ...

Re: danw's WCT 2009 thread
Heats on demand has to be the most frustrating, useless, piece of shite thing ever invented. FFS, the Dane vs Taj heat featured a crucially underscored wave by Dane that featured the hack of the contest....a full speed, full rail power carve.....and yet it wasn't in the heat on demand. Who's doing t...

Re: Where to live
This seems like a genuine inquiry so resisting the urge to say "don't come to the North Coast, we don't need another fcuken seachanger here", I'll say that if you don't consider Ballina you've got rocks in your head. There's arguably the most consistent surf in Australia, a surfboard industry that e...
