Re: Just general surfing stuff

Don't they help initiate the turn when you lean, especially if you're not on the tail? Like a 1+2 does.
I would love to try either a bonzer or widowmaker in the 6'6 to 7'0 range for 6-8ft Lennox.
But i also want to try a Phil Myers 10 channel for that too.
Probably not gonna happen anytime soon.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I really hate watching that tight little arc thruster surfing or if they are a bit gorillaish style wise. Quads improve your surfing IMHO. If the wave has enough push, you can easily hold your line on a thruster and avoid tight arcs. I don't mind taking a bit longer board out either for a bit of ex...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

The type of waves where people like the modern quad for speed and hold in the barrel, I prefer a channel bottom thruster. The Ab's I've had have never felt rudder like at all. Always had small fins in them. My current shorty tho is a quad but I've put twinzer fins in standard quad placement. I like ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Yes, the thruster is the standard to which other boards are compared. I was just thinking of how to summarise what to expect out of bonzer. And no point getting one unless you have occasional access to walling, quick, semi-hollow to hollow waves in the waist to head high range. A bit silly choosing...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Lennox boat channel this evening, alone. Was watching a few storm cells move by east and west, and then got hit by one. Was really cool, just sitting out there laughing. The wind and rain got so heavy I could barely see. Just as it was starting I could see a SUP paddling out across the lagoon and by...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The southerly was already into the spots I was hoping for. And looked a bit smaller than yesty too. Was probably a few bombs but fuschia if you'd be expecting to be in position for them.
Might join the hordes at the pass this arvo and check out the festival.

Yeh pretty much mature age recruits (male and female) together with older retiring age, both of which didn't exist in the 70s would explain the aging population I think.

Swellnet turning in to the liberal party, "we do not comment on operational matters".
