Re: Where did you surf today ?

Perhaps we could solve this by having a logarithmic scale where, say, learner/beginner is 1 degree of ability, intermediate is 10 times better, and pro 100 times better. Self assessment is, of course, not acceptable

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Recently? I've been here for ten years and you've had it all that time. Stepped up a notch over the last year. I mean really crap surf. I used to get frustrated but now I am more accepting. My philosophical approach has developed to the next level. Recent trip up the coast reminded me of the pay of...

Got a great long form interview/podcast with Geoff Cranked, I think you would like it.

I'm familiar with Geoff's theories, and it's my understanding he is referring to the design you should stick with through different iterations.
Yeah, agree, sticking with a design rather than a board.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I had a long conversation with Geoff McCoy many years ago and he totally sold me on his philosophy. I ended up with a 5'8" Nugget. I really liked it at first, but it lacked something and so the like faded away. Bit like a bell curve without the bell. Haha! I've only found nuggets to go in fast, pow...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

How is that incompatible with the above statement? Just seems a bit incongruous with the timeline. You've been on the same board for 3-4years but your surfing is improving because you are riding better boards? Doesn't seem like a salient factor. Steve, you of course know of Geoff McCoys belief that...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

If it wasn't for that 1000km offshore reef I reckon WA would be rivaling indo for the most consistent surf destination.

Oh, and the prevailing onshores.

My wife and I went to Taronga zoo some time in the 80s. The zoo had just acquired a huge Sumatran tiger so we wandered on down and asked where it was, an attendant said it was in temporary accommodation and headeded us in the right direction. We stopped outside its cage behind a railing and peered i...

I just couldn't get enough of the ancient temples overgrown by trees in Cambodia. Such complex emotions, civilisations rising and falling, slowly returning to nothingness https://previews.123rf.com/images/plotnikov/plotnikov1210/plotnikov121000285/16060190-huge-roots-destroying-the-temple-angkor-wat...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The late this arvo down south was fun as fcuk. Bout 4-5 ft fairly solid at the local swell magnet beachy, lined up and consistent, about 8-10 guys out and the LAGO helping to clean up conditions dramatically. The late autumnal sun was just catching the feathering of the sets, giving them an orange ...
