Re: Just general surfing stuff

looks pretty sick AJ. love that tail outline. Completely separately .....this is Nicks view on the wave pool comp a year ago after founders cup. "Reading one story following the Founders Cup finals day, I almost laughed out loud. It stated: “The jury is out”. The statement just seemed so ridiculous...

Re: skateboarding ...

Are you skating half pipes or bowls set ups?

Bowls translate a lot better to surfing.

Re: skateboarding ...

Knee pads are fine for drop ins, but it's when you start tapping, or going above, the coping when you have less control over fall direction and need elbow and wrist pads and helmet.

Re: skateboarding ...

Yep, what Iggy said.

Especially once you start wanting to tap the coping, your board will get hung up the 1st 50 times or so.

Re: skateboarding ...

i just built this little ripper for the local bowl, ramps and pool. it's been pure stoke. 8.0 rodriguez, 54mm bones blanks, 148's thunder trucks. zealous bearings. touched the coping (not quite grinded it) in the 10ft pool this week. i nearly came off in the transition. not sure i've been that scar...

So much fun, maybe even classed as pumping. Overhead sets, glassy, good banks.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well, I am just over 6 ft and it was at least 2 of me so yeah about 15ft, then again who fccckn knows. I certainly haven't got to the bottom where it was breaking today before. I am sure that wanksock Channels will be on here in a minute trying to refute it. You’ve been in Oz long enough to have gr...

Yeah was pretty raw today, sounds like it was breaking similarly all over Sydney. Some cracking waves but fccckn difficult take offs. Found myself on the ocean floor in about 15-20ft of water after screwing one up.
Measured from the front or from the back? And is this 15-20 foot Iggy scale?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Was the east component in the swell due to some type of refraction around your local reefs? Nulla was about as directional south as ever God it was pathetic here, just about the worst example of straight south swell you could imagine. I reckon Nicks local was one of the few places to work on the NB...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Steve, if you haven't seen the Surfers of Bali vids.

I think Beanie and co are referring to Balangan as a bit soft from vids like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACNeJPMr4zc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpXKVBJS_pI

Soft compared to Ulu or Padang at same size.

I would get the ice and a compression bandage on it early. Can't hurt and will speed up recovery if anything is actually wrong.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Fun, plenty of fun. Good banks

Despite that saw two blokes trying to have a scrap over a drop in. Plenty of waves taken off them by the pack as they were arguing.

I'm watching surfing from yesterday. Strider Raspberry Wasilewski just twice mentioned how people have more cubic litres in their boards. Can anyone explain cubic litres to me and how they might improve my surfing?
Are these cubic litres higher performance than regular litres?
