Re: J-Bay Pro 2017
The surfers I saw and talked with at J-Bay are not particularly head spun by sharks. They're all very aware of the great white and they all have stories. Quite a few have a black and white striped leash and a couple have similar striping on the undersides of their boards, the like of which you've p...

Re: J-Bay Pro 2017
Thanks Nick, Hey real pity that did not give us a result either way (as we really could do with some clear evidence that SS makes any difference) but have to say fitting a surfboard unit to the hull of a ski is just basically a waste of time because the obvious happened. Not rocket science that one....

Hey Nick,
I know it was on the JBay thread but did you find out if those Jet Skis had a Shark Shield Fitted?

Re: J-Bay Pro 2017
Rustt, I was sure I heard a commentator say the jet skis were fitted with Shark Shield technology. If so the images of that shark chilling out around and even under the ski is pretty clear evidence that SS is a hoax. All previous 'testing' stuff from SS is highly ambiguous and the latest images are ...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
No expert but do believe the built in idea is fifteen years old and does not work simply because these devices are based around emitting a charge into the water in immediate proximity to the output. So putting it in rails or even on the bottom of the board would mean the rider/paddler is getting con...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
just wondering if any stats or facts have been compiled from the various recent attacks/ encounters, either globally or regionally. Sometimes weird shit happens and maybe, just maybe there might exist some common denominators if facts were collated and compared. One thing for instance is both riders...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015
I'm wondering how MrMik is planning to compare the SharkShield to the surfboard implant. Like do any of youse even have a clue how often (or not) you've been checked out by sharks while surfing? A shark knows you're in the water way before you'll ever see it. Mostly it won't come anywhere near your...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015
Those stinky sharks are Threatening Our Way of Life with their backward looking prehistoric ways. We need a Coalition of the Willing to bomb the shit out of the ocean. It's the only approach that makes sense to me. If we all padded out with explosive devices built into ya wettie..sharkie bites and ...

Re: Mick surfs memories of AI as Tassie diver killed
details now emerging on SMH web page. daughter witnessed father getting taken by GW...Mick just so lucky.
Will be interesting to see if the diver was wearing any shark deterrent to see if media hound Mick for further comment ...hope they just leave him alone.

They are also beautiful and kind. And generous in spirit and in deed. Flowers also bloom and we can enjoy their fragrance and colour for free. For now anyway. In the words of Johann Goethe: Remembering that we all must die Should move the hardest heart to tenderness; Are we not required to show oth...

Thanks Nick, I was interested because a busy guy like you must put a huge amount of time on RS when you could be writing stories that pay the bills.
So real credit to you for taking the time and effort to answer silly questions like mine!

come off it AJ, I make more money than both of them put together just by getting up and typing every day. ... well, my last cheque for $128.50 should take that shit-eating grin off your face. Re: Ask Carroll
Rather than get into a debate over definitions the basic principle involves floatation of varying degrees. The more buoyant (thicker, longer, wider and light weight) the board, the higher it sit in or on the water and when in motion the quicker it will start planing across the surface and go faster....

Re: Ask Carroll
from my experience that pretty much sums them up Nick. draw your own conclusions as to the terminology one can apply to that type of person/attitude..not exactly endearing to the general populace or even their respective peers or wider cultural group.
