Re:

I wonder why Liddle attaches the wet and dry, rather than having it done at the factory - thoughts anyone? col We did it to boards around late 70's a lot . Usually with 400 wet/dry to bottom and rails only . The logic was to retain the toughness of good hard shell gloss coat , which had plenty of t...

Re: Midlengths

My long-lost interest in surfing might be making a comeback via a desire to get on something fat and fishy. I'm a little confused about the volume in litres that gets bandied about. Is there an equation to match the best volume for your height and weight? I'm 6'4'' and about 104kgs so it'd have to ...

Thoughts on the Corona

The country is basically in lockdown . The social distancing rules are in place . Hopefully , the general public will be responsible enough to adhere , until we get more numbers and facts on this thing , and see clearly what where dealing with. I drove through Burleigh Heads today , and the al-fresc...

Re: New Toy

You’d have to be pretty excited about that score. Sweet looking log Two months in and I'm still loving it. My green John Broadhurst is slightly smaller (And older) but the transition from one to the other and back is really easy. Those curves were developed to their optimum around '66 Trev , as you...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

All very good but not quite what you were saying....i.e. Scientists and statisticians being the only people to research anything in the 60s. Quite correct in a technical sense.....but semantics on an internet forum is pretty much a road to nowhere. I was more referring to the google phenomena , wit...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

It's all just marketing . MR , Rabbit and the Bronzed Aussies were all very good at marketing themselves, and surfing had a new global pro-circuit to sell.......The McCoy marketing was always very effective , even in the early days .

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

This may be why they liked the font but are you telling me they were researching fonts back in the 60s? The basic premise for the article appeared to be how people unconsciously adopted derivative styles. I think back in "the 60's" , it was more a case of some had more acute powers of observation t...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

The McCoy logo was inspired by Denny Keyo's logo......what they both are is what's known as the Coca Cola font , and the Coca Cola logo is the most recognizable logo in the history of advertising......which is basically why they both use the "Coca Cola" font.

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

people seem to forget that Geoff developed the nugget , and associated designs specifically for the average punters . He still shapes custom boards for some of his ex pro team riders , but those boards wouldn't be standard or off the rack models......and he has more work than he needs . There's many...

Re: Guns.

it's made in Asia, and I benefit from the cheap labour, same as surfboards. The concept that buying a product from Asia is beneficial , is debatable at best .....the more people that buy Australian-made the more genuine benefit there is . Every country should support it's own manufacturing , before...

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

That was the first lot kayu, they were all reshaped (rails, thickness, plan, rocker) for 2015. When I found the tail lift on the nuggets had nearly disappeared I corresponded with Geoff and he did not know that it had even occurred, then went into denial of the extent. Based on no evidence at all, ...

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

Actually saw a stack of McCoy Double Enders that looked like I might like to ride them. The real McCoy or the light weight Thai ones? I'd say the later. That's probably why they looked good......he didn't shape them. :-D-: Geoff was sent all the new TSA boards for his inspection before he allowed t...

"The Bottle"....designed and shaped by Frank Latta.......certainly collectable , but it's in extremely poor condition.....$100 definately worth it .
