Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.

So it can travel but it can't ride waves?

Are you going to stand with one foot forward of the bridge?

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.

What in the everlasting fcuk is it that you're actually shaping here, surffoils? That isn't a surfboard. This is like when your mum makes you go to the birthday party of the weird kid in primary school who plays in a recorder ensemble, and his mum saying you can have as much chocolate as you want, a...

Sean Collins did a great piece for Surfline. Here's an updated article, which includes the link to the original one:

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.

The point of a splitboard is to have skis when it's not together...if that's the view from above. There are some that use tongue and groove joins but they don't work well with snow and ice in them. Don't get me wrong, the splitboard works fine, I'm just thinking about your joining issues. I'd use a ...

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.

Have you joined any yet? I'm not that interested in the pieces, just how you plan on joining them. I ride a splitboard, where you can use metal clamps and all manner of joining technology, and weight isn't much of a factor. I have bindings that actively clamp the sides together, and 4 hooks. It does...

Re: Front shoulder pain.

A doctor (in his 60s) I know tore his tendon lifting a kayak.
He called his mate, an ortho, who said:

"You already know it makes no difference and we don't operate on old fcuks like you, are you just calling to tell me you don't know how winches work?"

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Know a few people with houses along that stretch.
One of them is a massive cnut. Threw me out of his house because I corrected his pronunciation of anemone.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

On the subject of opening the shoulders, a few months of skating has changed my snowboarding stance a fair bit, my back foot is not ducked out as much and my shoulders are more open.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

He has studied that coastline more than just about anybody, including photogrammetry and surveys back to the 1880s.

It's also just geometry/geography.

Re: General snow stuff

Got that right, I looked into doing an avalanche course and I'd have to drive across 3 states to even find something that can slide.

Leej, splitboard bindings are fairly flat, because of the amount of hardware required to create the front pivot point.

Re: General snow stuff

Yeah I know, my form was garbage on the first day. I was also playing around with trying to ski the flats without the skins etc so I did a lot more pushing than normal. Triceps were fine the second day. I didn't use the poles much at all. I think I am a decent chance to swap to hardboots after a yea...

Re: General snow stuff

It's surprising the parts of my body that hurt. Triceps in particular. Went out for another session yesterday, did a few laps of the steepest section and worked on my transitions. I was a lot more efficient with a bit more of an idea how to do it. The fam will probably get some cross country ski gea...

Never appealed to me, but a mate built an octobong that used a nitrous bulb and an aquarium pump to great effect.
