Re: Keramas event

Do the commentators face having their wages docked if they say "surfers" instead of "athletes"? It is a bit grating.

There you go - needed a professional writer to describe it properly. Clumsy swagger is exactly what it is. Thanks Nick!

Re: princess margaret river pro

does tony abbott really stomp when he walks on the sand? Well, I'm sure a better writer would be able to improve on "stomp". I'm not sure I can describe it properly with my amateur writing skills. It's a weird thing to watch up close, as many commentators have pointed out over the years, and it loo...

Re: princess margaret river pro

half the fcuking cabinet surfs. my fav Politician surfer: Wayne Swan. Rides an AB. How can you go past Tony Abbott? Saw him at Ti Trees a couple of years ago. It was 1" and at its most chaotic, full of the clueless, sun-loving hordes that area can attract. A gorgeous late autumn day though, so I to...

Re: Teahupoo Contest

I really feel for instance that the whole "try to get Middle America etc people in via wave pool comps" is fundamentally misguided and misses the whole point of fine edge top end surfing, which is that it is a superb physical and mental challenge in an unmatched aquatic environment. I mean just do ...

Well congratulations to the organisers on producing such a riveting girls awards show! Usually those things are dull as, but Sally Fitzgibbon's no-show for the #2 award was compelling viewing. Poor Potts, standing there stranded, holding the mic, repeating ad nauseum "I'm sure Sally will be here any...

Re: surf rage. solved. apparently...

i'm too lazy and care too little about this to google, but haven't we been here before?

Just seems like every couple of years this 'we're going to build a reef and solve congestion/create a world class wave/create surf tourism honeypot/etc' seems to pop up.

Re: PIPE

Anyone else think Slater was overscored in his quarter with John John, almost becoming a regular occurence. Watching it live I thought so too. After seeing the replays I wasn't so sure. I'd like to see the range of scores given by the judges for the critical scoring waves. It would be interesting t...

Re: Jammed zipper on board bag - how to loosen up?

Just use soap guys. A basic slab of sunlight or whatever is fine. Don't wet it or anything, just grind it into the salt-caked zipper and leave it for a couple of days. Works every time for me.

I'm still not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed that I'm heading down to the snow tomorrow. 10-12' forecast on swellnet, wow.

Re: FKN Today Tonight

Missed the full story but caught the ads, and it struck me that it's been a while since we saw a 'dole cheat surfer' story. Used to be more the norm when I was a kid. Tracks ran a nostalgia piece on dole-bludging surfers recently which brought back fond memories of a time I was half-there myself (pa...

Ya reckon? Yep, I do. After living at Bondi for around 15 years I reckon I understand the mindset of these guys pretty well. I see it every day. I think quite the opposite: the surf is a scary place for many beginners and they're very likely to take cues from someone who's moving quickly through th...

Re: Byron Bay Carnage

Maybe the local boardriders clubs need to step up here. Identify themselves in the line-up (coloured/marked rashies or something?) and enforce a code of safety and general conduct. Ideally a national code, well publicised and taught at the surf schools. Things like paddling to the whitewater as ment...

And I doubt he will ever do it tough as there will be many millions hidden in the wifes name and in trusts overseas, Well, maybe, but on the surface of it, it doesn't look like it. He put the house in his wife's name, a standard move with these guys. But then he got the missus to go guarantor on on...

PS. Is Alan Jones really a smoker of pole??? Well, you could read 'Jonestown', Chris Masters' effort at an unauthorised biography of AJ, if you really wanted an answer to this. But to cut to the chase, the answer is that in all probability he is in fact a smoker of poles. Having read Jonest...

I lost my taste for Cormac McCarthy after 'The Road'....Christ, that book really should have shipped with a course of Prozac.
