Re: Surf helmets - hopefully Roy fcuks off

My Dad died from an aneurysm.
Not from a head knock though. Most are a genetic fault. Weak spot in a blood vessel.
I can see how a knock might cause it. Scary stuff.

Bad news Groote. Heavy stuff. My wife is genuinely convinced I'm going to die in the surf one day.
Hope the recovery goes well.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Disturbingly sad story this. Well written and thought provoking. I'd like to think I would get involved pretty quickly if I witnessed anything like this. Plenty of women surf at my local these days. Some are more than competent. Others less so but all conduct themselves well in the surf and easily f...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Noosa would be on the pump Boogie boarder died out there today. The news had video taken from main beach. There was a line of surfers from Johnson's out to Boiling Pot about six wide and unbroken. Surf wasn't all that big but it probably was around at Ti Tree and Granite. He apparently jumped off t...

There's one out in the eastern suburbs of Brisbane too.

I thought the one near Trev was a Barra fishing place now?
It was advertising during the recent school holidays.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, we are in for 13' waves on the Sunny Coast over the next few days. They quote Coastalwatch as follows. Coastalwatch's 16-day swell forecast predicts 13-foot waves to break on the Coast by 7pm on Monday. The massive swells are expected in the majority of Coast b...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

My local. Clean. Uncrowded. A bit full. But fun. And how great is it when the holidays are over and there's just 8 of you in the water and you all know one another. Sort of took my life in my hands afterwards though. Standing around talking about things and guys had to go to work. I mentioned there ...

Remember those wake ski parks back in the 90’s?
How many are operational now?
I only ever knew of one.
It's up here and still going.

Ah! Hang on. It's a cable skiing setup.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I remember one excellent afternoon session there breaking pretty much at Winki and going right through to the racetrack. Gigantic waves.
It was the day Melbourne beat St George for the 1999 GF.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I lived overlooking it for 3 years. The best time to hit it was when a new swell was just starting to arrive. Preferably during the middle of the day. The crowd wouldn’t be on it yet. Had plenty of sessions on my own or with one or two others. Or at first light. You weren't the guy in that really o...

Fun wave but it’s got nothing on the Gold Coast points
Having surfed there regularly for about 12 years, I'd disagree.
On their best days, years. But they might happen 2 or 3 days a year.
I'd rate their average days on a par with Bower.
And there's rarely a sweep at the Bower which is a bonus.
