Re: Ocean Blue Longboards

Hey I have owned an ocean blue nine footer for two years. It taught me a few things about surfboards. Not so good stuff I hate to have a bad word to say but I have reapired this board more than any other I own. Cracks under the nose full width across the board. Cracks in the middle reappearing later...

Re: Glassing Carbon Rails

Gday how much glass do you guys think is necessary for carbon rails?

I am building a 9 footer ( 22 1/2 by 3 ) I was thinking 6 + 6 top and 4+4 bottom with carbon or is this too heavy?

Regards. :?

Glassing Carbon Rails

Gday just wondering if anyone has experience with glassing carbon rails. Should they be done with epoxy? My guess is yep. Do they go straight on top of the blank and then do the full cloth lam over the rails? OR........... can the carbon go on top of the first lam and just before the sand coat? I ha...

Re: Bear Surfboards

Personally I have many boards now but my goto is a surftech shortboard. It is tough as nails and catches anything big or small. I have pounded it severely. I just plug any cracks (not many) over night with epoxy putty and she backs up the next day ready to ride again. All boards sustain damage. I kn...

Bear Surfboards

Gday I have lately become interested in Bear longboards specifically the Beau Young 9'1 and the Bear HP 9'1.

There are also epoxy versions too.

There does not seem to be a lot of info around on these. Does any one have any experiences with regards to these.

I would like to here from you. Thanks.

Re: Beach Break Surfboard.

Ok Gents thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I I went for the Al Merrick Tuflite Flyer 2. Made in Mona Vale they say. Its really a 7 foot shorboard with a long pointed nose. Dimensions 7 foot 3" thick , swallow tail Tri fin. Seemed to Satisfy my criteria. 1. Made in Aus. 2. Proven design. 3. T...

Re: Beach Break Surfboard.

Ok Gents thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I think I agree with some of you guys about the 7 footers but this is what I decided to go for and this is the result. Been riding a 9 footer for a while. Studied closely what the other guys were riding down at the Bra. Nearly all shortboards. Its a ...

Re: Beach Break Surfboard.

Sydney beachies are often, sucky and hollow. In many locations (particularly on low-tide) the waves will be fat and feathery on approach, and hard to get in to early), then will jack-up when they hit the sandbank/shorey and you're looking at a late critical drop under the lip. Thats sounds like man...

Beach Break Surfboard.

Ok so I have just spent the morning getting smashed again on my noserider in curly beach breaks. I am not a quitter but I think I have had enough and I am gonna call it a Mutt. I know I am not a genius at surfing but this thing wont drop in , will not catch waves easily, and will not turn easily. :c...
