see your problem is you can't jump straight into reef surfing as it is considerably more difficult than beachies. Surf the beaches up more, practice taking off deeper and holding your board strong and once you have become competant at that then try reefs. Its just basic respect for the guys already ...

when it gets big, its bodyboarders out there charging. Next time it gets big look at the proportion of bodyboarders compared to your average smaller day. To prove my point, next time it gets over 6ft, go down to deadmans and look whos out there.

I used to ride a Foreplay 41.5 Hardy which I found had great projection when deep in the barrel, but was difficult to pull back into line if you lost your rail. yeah i got nailed out there, i went over the falls, lost me board and one fin. Took the long swim to get back and find my board was screwed and there was a large pod of dolphins near the guys out there

Some smartass is screwing around with todays photos (18th). Just wondering if the one they claim to be north steyne, is deadmans. Seems similar to the second section at deadmans, and would explain why so little people were out.
