Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
Ive decided to glass on some fins on mine tally. This is just an experiment board to get me back into shaping so Im also going to go for a leash loop as well. I like the idea of not plugging holes in a surfboard if not needed. Plus glass on just sort of make me smile, man Im getting old. Im going to...

Ive only glassed on once and since this is a pratice blank to get back into it I will go for it once agian. Im even thinking of making a leash loop near the tai...

Re: Operation
Been a while since posted. Swimming every second day now, dont last long as i need ot be careful of the strain put on the back. I walk laps of a 25 m pool plus swim one lap underwater. I sprint a few laps with a float between the legs to take the strain off the back. While swimming I concentrate on ...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
This is the blank I sorta shaped with yorky over a few beers, well, more than a few actually, five years back, when he was still on the sunshine coast. I never got to complete it, only cut out the outline and roughed in the rocker. So this blank may be possibly be the longest time anyone has ever ta...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
This is the little 5'6 ive been plugging away at. Its not been easy without the side lights and these might take a while to get, so I decided to just go for it without. To get around any scratches i might not pic up or bumps i might not see im going to paint the whole board white with an additive as...

Re: Operation
G'day digger. I know I've mentioned it more than once, but seriously, have a delve into meditation. For me, it doesn't make the pain go away; quite the opposite. I focus right into it and the amazing thing is that you train the brain to increase its threshold for tolerance. I rarely take antiinflam...

Re: Operation
If i ever needed another operation and needed pain relief, I wouldn't use modern medicine. What humans need for pain relief has been growing like a weed in the fields for centuries. yup, I was caught by surprise by all this and went through hell with modern pain killers and I believe im still menta...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
unwrapped the blank and started sanding her smooth, trouble was without side lighting I could not see the shadows, the bumps. Shaping has now been delayed until I get proper lighting underneath. The other pic is just of the stuff I use for shaping, theres a touch more like the shapers layout square ...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
Ahh, my back is better, though I did not tip in the concrete or lift any heavy bits mate. I had a mate help do all the heavy work. He drilled the holes, I did the measuring, cutting, glueing. He did the bolting, poring of concrete, grinding, and stapling of the memory foam as im just not strong enou...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
Tools organised and stands finally made. I used memory foam and doubled it up for padding instead of the carpet. Decided to keep it simple as fancy shaping stands wont make me a better shaper so why not keep to basics. The only thing left to do is side lights and black plastic on the walls to get th...

Re: Operation
Looks the goods, we are saving hard, real hard. Would love something the kids could put tiny homes on if they wanted to. me and a mate are looking at setting up a tiny home company. we can see a market for it, particularly around the north coast farms in the hinterland. theres a few companies in ql...
