Agreed, get him a short board, not an old man's board.

He'll thank you for it.

I gotta ask, why surf a mal like a short board?

Looks like a nice board, can you post more details on the shaper?

Good to see that you've given a local shaper a go.. Not a machine in Thailand..

Yes it is a surftech, but I really don't notice too many differences to a PU board, and it paddles brilliantly!
Well worth a try if you can find one.

Re: Single fin for 6'6 egg kinda shape

Hey thanks Boo. Its really hard trying to get your head around fins and their complexities from zero knowledge. Hmmmmm decision, decision. Definitely need one though, as a twinny it just shits itself with any pressure in the turn/take off Just buy a fcs 7" dolphin fin. Simple , user friendly and pr...

Re: EPS or ultra light longboard

The distinction is that a tuflite is made overseas regardless of the shapers nationality.

Buy a board from an Aussie shaper that hasn't sold out. There's a lot of good ones around.

Re: EPS or ultra light longboard

The great advantage of heavy glassed longboards is momentum when you are walking the board, trimming, etc. I've had both and am considering getting another tuflite to encourage me to carry it down to the beach   Also thinking about when I'm really old and needing something light. Basica...

Re: Anyone used a greenough flex fin in longboard/egg ?

I have a Thomas Bexon 9'4 old faithful and removed the pivot fin and glassed in a 10" Greenough 4a and can't believe how good it goes, It's not a Larry Allison flex but a True Ames fin which is stiffer than the Allison flex. I think the dolphin would hold in better for noseriding but the 4a loosens ...

Re: Tail : Square or Pin 9'6.

Dan I didn't know you where getting a pig, if so the square tail would be more the go. Not sure if the pig is the right choice, I personally think that you have to progress to a pig but other forum members might disagree. The traditional pig has a wide tail, D fin and narrow nose. Let us know how yo...

Re: Tail : Square or Pin 9'6.

Well Dan, 9'6" single fin would require at least a 9 1/2" centre fin in my opinion. Now the shape of the fin would depend on the shape of the board, rails, tail etc. Usually the shaper knows what fin would suit but if not get a fin box put in then you can experiment with different fins and be guided...

Re: Makaha Manu, relentless glide

Ha ha, sorry mate, should have said a paddle board, clubbies use them to race. I bought one for those flat days to train on. Super fast and turns pretty good from the tail if you're on your knees, but can't turn for shit if your standing on one. Bit like Roy's.
