Hydroflex technology and 3D glassing

Lost Mayhem seem to use it quite a bit with many of their pros so it must have some integrity. Its been around in the US for maybe 2 years but im yet to find an aussie board maker or ...

Re: Thruster/Quads with 5 Fin Plugs

dUG, Captain, nice posts, I totally agree... :D No doubt 5 holes are a marketing ploy. I guess the majority of uninitiated surfing consumers like to get more bang for their buck so perhaps 5 plugs is seen to offer more however depending on the shape could actually offer no more than what the shape w...

Re: Thruster/Quads with 5 Fin Plugs

But they will certainly not improve your ability as a surfer. In fact I would argue the make you a worse, lazy surfer. I would say that the reason you have so much trouble on a HPS is because you are stuck in the whole Fat Bat/ Alternative type board thing. I shouldnt buy into this discussion but I...

Re: Riding Motor Bike in Bali

Sweet trip to Bali again just this June/July. Great waves and successful, safe riding around the joint. As I said its one of the best parts of going to Bali, riding a shitty MOPed, Skooter what ever the hell you call them. As long as you have your wits about you, ride carefully, be mindful, slow dow...

Re: Repair Tips

OK - Relaminating or Re-glassing a ding After bogging a rail ding, to apply the glass patch, do you use a tray (ice cream tub lid??) to hold your resin+catalyst mix then drop your patch of glass in the resin "bath" to get a good coverage of resin and then with sticky fingers apply the resin dripping...

Re: Repair Tips

So Ric, would those UV ding repair kits you see at the surfshops, often a tube of something and a bit of sand paper are actually OK. I looked at them and thought they werent any good. I think one was from Ocean and Earth another was Soltek I think.

Re: Repair Tips

What about Core Industries blanks. They claim "HIGH DENSITY - The density of our blanks is all throughout the cross section of the board and not only skin deep." Have you had any experience with these blanks?

Re: Fixing Sunken decks

I wanted to be a shaper when I was a young bloke, I still wish I had but my mum n dad said no way. Its probably the only time I ever did what they wanted of me and became a graphic designer (boring !!!) instead. What would be great is if a shaper could hold some amateur course ala Community College ...

Few places do their own glassing and everything else involved in the process... we do for several reasons.
Hey Ric, thanks again for all of your knowledge, Any chance of you can share which board company you work for. I can give you my email if you want to name it off record.

Re: Repair Tips

Thanks for the tip ric, looks like I need to track down some Epoxy resin for my SLX fix. I have fixed the nose with standard resin with fine results, a little rail ding sanded back, filled with a thick balloons+resin mix, sanded back and repatched with glass cloth and resin and finished.
