I think the idea and concept of biouels sounds good...... but there are problems... Problems - using farmland for additional cropping bad idea as will use more chemiceals, water, felling of more trees etc using existing farmland for biofuel rathar than (or in addition to) food cropping reduces world...

I think most of us would have all "started" surfing before we even got on a board. I remember as a scrawny 7 year old huddling under a towel in winter on the beach watching the big kids surfing planks and collecting them on the beach (no leggies) hoping that one would allow me the privilege of havi...

I only did a bit of surfing in my teens - was never very good. Mainly stuck with a body board as didn't get to the beach often enough to get any good at proper surfing! Left it in my early 20's (work etc then around europe for a couple of years, met he missus etc). Always lived near the beach in my ...

Interesting topic…… here’s my thoughts: • Better prices for boards, wetties and other gear over the summer and into next year. Consumer spending is down, and there will be stores with stock they had ordered for xmas needing to get rid of it – not to mention needing to get some turnover to stop thems...

I too am a surfer and surf rower, been doing both for 20+ years (not as old as Nick Carrol though) Some on this forum make a lot of good points, but most of the contributors are generalising. I am now also a sweep and I will never catch a wave if i know there are surfers in the zone where the boat ...

This might make you all feel a bit better.

Check out the sweep at 1 min 4 secs into the video - bails cause he can see the wave coming and leaves the rest of the guys to sort it out!!

I go many months at a time without surfing, then when i'm home on holidays i'm rarely out of the water. but it is definitely manageable, even if i lurk on here all the time when im at the uni library, or trying to sca...

Re: Leaving the Surf

I like to travel and so far ive been to places that have good waves. They have been surfing holidays. But there are many other places around the world, id like to go eg Europe/Uk that surfing is not the main reason for going. In fact you'd probably not surf for months on end. Now ive been a keen ri...

I have been wading through tis thread for the past couple of days as people have added comments..... Seems to me that if someone had the balls, they could start up a 'new' surf brand which encompassed all of the things people seemed concerned about..... What about a company that promises that they w...

Mate, if you've got the Bic then fine... just, please, don't fucken EVER!!! let go of it when a set pops up in your face. Ok? If you follow this...

Buy a cheap set of 'soft racks'

I don't travel often with my board but bought some a few weeks back....

I wouldn't want to tour the world with the soft racks but for a short trip somewher (ie, under a few hours) they are OK.

Got mine for about $50. Bargain!
