Re: Coconut Spray; The Niugini Experience

No crowds. For two reasons. 1. The surf management plan seems to be honoured by everyone. We heard stories of machete wielding locals literally walking out onto the reef if they hadn’t been paid their cut of the surf tourism cash. 2. The resort wasn’t full, and it was a very good thing in this case....

Re: Coconut Spray; The Niugini Experience

Sorry boys, Been offline for a while. After the trip it went flat in sydney so I spent my Xmas break fishing and spending time with the family. Long story short. Can’t wait to go back. Great place to relax. Food was top knotch. SP lager is literally the worst i’ve tasted in the world (after 12 years...

Re: Midlengths

Had a session at north cronulla yesterday. Very busy 2ft max on the sets. The 8” single is perfect for it. Going to get a 2+1 set up. Thinking about the shapers 6” 2+1 set up. Not bag value at $150. If was super crowded... haven’t had a collision in a while. Had 2 yesterday. Nose chipped on my new ...

Re: Midlengths

Also if anyone has a 6-7” centre fin laying around let me know.
I’ve got a set of medium performers neo glass in new condition that we can swap.
Or would swap the performers for a large futures quad set.

Re: Midlengths

So I got my hands on a new 7’2 seaxe for 600 bills Took it for a paddle at the beachie In 1.5ft on shore junk near the flags. Put an 8” alkali Pcc fin in it. Paddles as well as my 7’7. I reckon the epoxy core played a big part here. There’s some waves coming for Sunday. Pretty excited to get it out ...

Re: Honu Boards of Bondi

I’m with beanpole. I’ve seen some of the boards around my local break. Fountain of youth model springs to mind. Got talking to a guy that had been riding his exclusively for ten months. Deck was in great shape, rails all still one piece, no blown out fin boxes. At the moment I can afford to buy boar...

Re: Midlengths

After selling my 6’8 waterskate, i’ve been missing a board that paddles really well into high tide point wave that I can duck dive if I get caught inside. My 7’7 single is a bit too much board to duck dive well. The 7’2 would be a nice option that I reckon will go well on the beachie when it gets to...

Re: Midlengths

Long time no see. Question: has anyone out there got a 7’2 firewire seaxe? What fins did you put in it. I’ve only ever used fcs fins and the board i’m looking at getting second hand has futures. What are the equivalent sizes in futures for GX sides/rears. I’m thinking Single: 8” flex fin 2 + 1: FCS ...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

Had a few surfs on the DHD twin.
Love it.
Plenty of foam up front for paddling, nice thin in the tail for turning.
Looking forward to getting it into a few bigger waves to see how it goes.

80kg. 5’10 x 19 3/4 x 2 1/2 31.5L MR PC twin + trailer.

Friend of mine who has been says take a longer board. Just in case of small swell or complete exhaustion. So the 6'8 sounds like it should be one of them
The 6’8 served that purpose well in indo. The last few days of the trip I was stuffed.

Re: Quiver thread

Have spent a bit of time thinking about what boards i’m going to take Nusa Island Retreat in 6 weeks. Went and put the tape over a few of my boards to try and figure out which ones to take. Biggest learning.... they all reduce in tail rocker as they shorten. Their tails get narrower as they get long...

Re: Eggs - how do you like them?

I updated my quiver the quiver thread.
10’s a nice round number.
I could talk about my boards all day. But will do so in the quiver thread for any takers.
Been meaning to take a new photos but can’t find the time on the weekends with a young family.

Re: Eggs - how do you like them?

Never thought I’d do it.... but i sold my waterskate. 7’0 egg in the future. Did you not like it with the single fin installed? I really did like it but.... a few things. 1. I got $400 with average fins and leggy for it. Not bad for a 10 year old board. 2. I saw a 5’10 DHD the twin on the gumtree w...

I think there's something wrong with me. For the first time since I started surfing I feel like there's no room in my life for more boards.
Surely it's a passing phase.
Just stumbled across this. Bought a twinny yesterday.

Ok ok ok. This is the last one. :-D-:
