Re: Kuta/Legain Accommodation Recommendation?

Get off the plan, jump in a taxi & find your own place... All the other recommendations are spot on as well if you want to pre-organize something. Be prepared for a shock if you haven't been in a while... G-Land should be good in the mornings & evenings. Have fun Cheers Nikko Nikko-that sounds good...

Re: Finless.Derek hynd, ridiculous!!!!!

Derek's a living legend and with our without fins still rips the sh!t-so he's off on a path and he's eclectic-great-more power to him-can't all be potato chip tri/quad clones-and wouldn't want it that way.

Kuta/Legain Accommodation Recommendation?

Off to g-Land next week and luckily for the past 15 years when going to Indo I've stayed at a mate's place who lived there (past tense-so not an option this time). Only in Bali a night or 2 on the way in and straight home on the way back. All the places I stayed at back in the 80's are shopping mall...

Re: Seal in the surf at North Avalon last night

I often see a guy swimming WAY out the back in flippers and mask/snorkel towing an orange balloon, he's not diving, but just ocean swimming like that-any idea who the guy is and what his deal is-seems to me to be a Darwin Awards candidate.... the gentleman is a Russian emigre in his late 50s. His f...

Tsunami was G-Land-and there was also a shark at Margaret River.

Tellllllll me, grey seal. excuse the puurri like cryptic posting that means very little and can only serve to annoy. For those who don't know, grey seal i...

Re: Seal in the surf at North Avalon last night

Point Break will, deservedly, fade into insignificance by the time she's grown up a bit. That's exactly what I thought when I read your post - you named her after Patrick Swayze. I tried to be tactful though . Be careful, Point Break is a cult classic. It might hang around longer than yo...

Re: Seal in the surf at North Avalon last night

If that's what you want, I edited my post to remove her name. I'm sure Trev will edit his quotation of my (now non-existent) post. Nah-no worries, unfortunately the typed word does little to communicate what's behind the words compared to a face to face chat -Point Break will, deservedly, fade into...

Re: Seal in the surf at North Avalon last night

Hmmmm-maybe I shoulda' edited out her name in the post-remember it, she's a very good surfer for her age-has already won BL's grom comp and was given a 'Most Fearless' award by Machado in the comp (when she was 6).

Re: What does everyone think of Surfing World's 300 list?

I reckon the SW 300 is an awakening of sorts for the crew who are running it, a forced history lesson of sorts. I liked it enough to send em a story for the next available slot. Pfft, please, you got an ad coming up with STC or something? I did like Edition 300 but I think SW is doomed, since the C...

Re: Seal in the surf at North Avalon last night

That's a good idea Matt (staying out of the water on dusk at a spot where a shark attack has occurred in the recent past, when the water temp is 24, there's been a colossal runoff and associated nutrients flooding the water, and a lot of baitfish under the surface everywhere). Encourage everyone to...
