Avalon/Monavale - originally taught by Mr S Anderson
I've been very happy with the quality (and range) of boards i've been getting off him over the last 8years.. a top bloke and good to have a yarn to as well, probably won't get waves if you paddle with him though

By the same token, how would you feel if you turned up to your semi-secret spot only to find 6 other good surfers there who you have not seen before and over heard one of them say "swellnet said places like this would be good today"? If you've ever been to a surf spot outside of walking distance to...

was just reading this article and was going to chuck it on RS to see people's reactions - figured it fits in here.. is it the shark nets helping here, or are we all just so paranoid despite there not being (relatively) many attacks at all? http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/shark-attacks...

sounds like their locals have a much more effective way of stopping backpacker tourists from camping in their carparks..

Re: NEW SURF SCHOOLS AT NEWPORT MONA VALE AND WARRIEWOOD
I've found that no matter how hard you try to convince them otherwise, a surf school "graduate" is determined to go out and buy the shortest board possible to make themselves look "cool" and become "part of the club". They think that because they can pooman some whitewash on a 9ft foamie, that mean...

I like the idea of a rating system too - but not the first to a million kind.. Something like ebay where it compares good rep vs bad rep over a period of time.. basically if you're going to get a good or bad rep then its because of something GREAT or TERRIBLE - not just because you agree with someon...

sad to say it, but i don't think the outside chance of a $300 fine is enough to really deter people..

Fiji in December - am I kidding myself?
So my missus has just become a school teacher and as such my window for overseas holidays has just about closed up altogether - as a results we're hitting Fiji at the start of december for 1 week. I've heard that the surf isn't ideal at that time of year, but still decent (its not going to be any be...

cheers for the response Roy - good to hear that you're simply enjoying what you do, can't ask for more than that..
doesn't matter what you're trying to achieve on a board, it all ends in entertainment - everyone's just got a different way of getting there..

Re: Just in case someone didn't get it yet . . . .
That was a huge effort to get through all of that - however it has left me compelled to ask a few questions of Roy in the hope of a direct explicit response. Roy you use superlatives to describe your boards' performance regularly through this thread. Other people use superlatives to counter your poi...

Re: Speed Fins for sale on Grays Online
got a set of speeds to anyone who wants them... just snapped my board and won't be needing them anymore... they're whatever the normal ones are, maybe a little scratched from some shallow duckdiving.. they're perfectly good to use though, and surely someone will find value in them rather than me thr...
