Re: post your modern day sickness
my quiver of everyday boards is pretty dialed at the moment but modern day boards for better days is where I am getting lost at the moment. It used to be i'd just take a 6'0 and a 6'4 pintail on my trips but it seems the step up is getting way shorter in recent years and sometimes fatter as well. I ...

Re: C - Drive Fins
I've had to deliberately calm this board down in the past using an H3 template 'cause they don't drive as much as most other fins. It's worked but it's also felt like the board was anaesthetised a bit, some of its ferocity removed in the service of sanity, but killing its fine upper edge too. what ...

Re: paging Nick Carroll regarding webber curves
hey guys, thanks for the replies I actually got my hands on a set to try, so I thought I'd post my initial thoughts. Generally, I ride pretty standard equipment (5'11x 18 3/8) and my quiver is a mix of pro hand-me-downs and customs. I got a hand me down from a pro in Spain which was a 5'4" Lost Roun...

paging Nick Carroll regarding webber curves
Years ago I remember reading an article where Nick Carroll did a fin test and raved about the webber curves (in contrast to the g5's ) and so on. This was way back, and soon after Freddy P won the US nationals on them at trestles. They are still being sold but I don't hear anything about them anymor...

Re: Nick Carrol's Book - The Complete Guide to Surfing Your Best
i've always fared well with some pointers, whenever I have received them, I usually have a new focus or aim when I am surfing and that alone is grounds for building improvement (as opposed to surfing somewhat aimlessly) I agree with the notion that you have to learn for yourself, but disagree with t...

remember the K2.1 and K3 fins both use a normal M3 template as rear which significantly cuts down there total surface area. As for what Nick Carroll said, I agree. But I can say this, the smaller the board, the more I notice the fins, as soon as the board bulks up a bit, fins become something I noti...

i agree with FishStick on this one. Low entry rocker is good too but you don't want a flat tail rocker. Small pockets require a quick approach, drive is not always the answer. Now, if it's a line-up and flatfaced wave, then I think it's good to go drivier with added planing surface and volume. You w...

Can't really take 2' and down seriously enough to think about it, so I just ride whatever comes to hand, anything from a superclubbie racing board to a 5'9" quad you would if you lived where I did and 2ft. surf was what you had to look forward too hahhaa. to be honest in 2-5ft clean surf, ANYTHING ...

what Natho says was true for me when I am living in warmer climates. bears no truth whatsoever in worse waves when wearing a 6mm wetsuit. bigger guys will need more help with foam/rocker smaller guys will usually reap the benefits of responsive equipment. Side note, there are heaps of different type...
