Re: winter 2018

I've had heaps of waves, Steve. Plenty in the head high to overhead range. Plus seen some of the biggest south swell I can remember for quite while.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It's smaller than yesterday and I wouldn't call it 6-8ft faces then. Bit of over calling there? Waiting for a bit more water on the bank before I go out. *Note: don't usually take a mal out at this size......unless it's Crescent Head....or Noosa. Then I might. It's funny....everyone has a bit of a l...

The Fat Bullet has a fantastic glass job. I read somewhere Muz puts the matting on with the weave diagonal.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

So getting back to wave measurements. The Balinese...and cranky can correct me if I'm wrong....use the length from your elbow to your middle finger as a unit of measurement when they build someone's house. So the number of units remains the same but the actual house is built to scale for the individ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It was pretty chunky yesterday. If you were prepared to take the sets on the head there were some decent waves.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

:D That's nice, The Hatch. Try a bit more time in the gym to work out your anger management issues. Using bold capitals always wins an argument :-D-: You are the one who included the Hawaiian reference. So some surf reports use those scales? These days they usually include a reference to it in physi...

Re: Bribie Island Board Riders

Solid this arvo. Man the swell is quickly eating the sand away at the south end.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Just to recap, shit for brains. The basic argument is that this method developed in Hawaii. It has some relevance in an environment where the waves regularly get huge. As it spread out it became something that people who had been there and regularly rode large waves adopted....plus wannabes who thou...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Exactly moron. It seems the (Hawaiins) use the same scale as we (Aussies) do. I read it. Then I posted it. I wasn’t referring to surflines measurements. That’s why I posted the comment you colossal dullard. Were you deprived of oxygen during birth or something? :D That's why it's called the Hawaiia...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Unpredicted? It was on every synoptic chart i sW. Yes, Steve. That's for us who look at synoptic charts. What I meant was it just seemed to pop up rather than come across as a southerly front or roll down from the north like a cyclonic depression. I don't take that keen an interest in conditions up...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well MS was pretty spot on for conditions when we bolted to Crescent a couple of weeks ago.....except for the star rating. That was way off....which was good. Interested to know why you used a surf forecast site based out of Devon, England to surf in NSW. Good question. 1/ didn't know it was based ...

Re: Waves you've seen but never ridden.

The question is....will this little beauty peel for 500 metres or is this actually the whole bit before it closes out? The thing that actually prompted my idea for this thread was a wave I saw at Forster 25 years ago. Was even about to paddle out to catch one just on dark that day. Another wave neve...

Waves you've seen but never ridden.

Okay, a few recent reports on the mid north coast reminded me and in one case made me aware of a wave that Ive thought about surfing but have never scored.
Stuff like Jefferies Bay for someone my vintage and a natural is obvious. As is Honolua Bay but there's lots of others.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Magic seaweed lol Have I missed you posting your in-depth 6 week mapping analysis steve? Magicseaweed for where I live is startlingly accurate Cos every day says it’s 1 foot, blown out and looks and smells like raw sewage? I have it on good authority that the surf in Sydney is just as shit as it is...
