@captain... central coast/sydney/newy area here, been surfing in nothing but a 3/2 steamer in any of those areas usually from June through to Oct. We had a few insanely cold currents last year when the water hit about 13 or so but that was not usual... I feel the cold easily too, i usually wear a LS...

Re: Fish or small wave performance?
Actually ended up going with RMS. Good price and got a sweet package price with a 6'3 double board bag for when I go to indo. The torkpedo looks like a sick little board ended up going with 5'8 x 19 3/8 x 2 1/4. Was thinking about going 19 1/8 but that extra width should make it more fun on the cra...

Re: Fish or small wave performance?
yeah man, the stump looks sweet. In either shit or half decent small waves. I've just ordered a board similar and a lot of local guys up my way love them. Go well in the crap but still rip in a nice face wave/shorey. 5'10"x 19 3/4"x 2 7/16", rounded square from RMS. Talk to Emery for sure, tell them...

Re: Kids surfing - how young to start
just watch out for the inevitable dumpings. It put my kids off riding boards at about 3 years of age :) Now they are 4 and 7 and are keen to ride boogie boards but i got them an el nino mini. Almost like a really small surfboard with no fins, it's narrower so they can hold on to the sides better as ...

Re: Take Away dim-SIM
with the current trend of shorter boards, going down to 5' 2" isn't that much of a stretch. not so bad if you're an old time skater like me, going short seems to make reasonable sense given that you don't actually ride the nose of a shortboard that much, it's the back 2/3 that counts the most ! Look...

get one yourself, or surf waves most mal riders don't like, i.e. steep barreling ones.

Clubbies hate them too I've found and will chase them up or report them to Police also. Terrigal has specific NO GO zones for PWC's (due to the ocean swimming course) but it's constantly abused and driven through every weekend by these idiots. As a lot of the club members are ocean swimmers, any cra...

Re: Surfing airs are rubbish - discuss
sorta agree, just banging them out and landing 1 in a 100 is annoying to watch (i.e. every grommet at my local :D )... if you can do them and land them properly and ride out or continue the wave, give it a good score and by all means continue... If it's the only trick on a wave and they land it and ...

Re: Swellnet
swellnet is OK... but the variance between beaches can mean that where they check is nothing like what other beaches are showing. By the time they put the reports up, the light offshores are gone, the dawn patrol is the only way to go, plus it means I surf a lot more than i would if I just went off ...

mate went on a US/Canada trip to go snowboarding, got to the border and they wouldn't let him in as he had a DUI in Australia a few years back. He went back to the US, everyone else went to Canada :) They also had plenty of beer in the car, also a no-no, was confiscated on the spot. VERY strict there.
