Re: Just general surfing stuff
The wave cam driven software may deduce it though and save all the work. I'd be progamming it up though as well to check if the cam driven software came up with the same forecast. If it does the cam concept is proven. I'd throw in a few more hand coded spots to get a reasonable sample size for proof...

Yep: https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/news/press/2007/pr041607_items.html Sean Collins did a great piece for Surfline. Here's an updated article, which includes the link to the original one: https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/mechanics-of-mavericks-california-big-wave-xl-wave-break/46358 Sean details t...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Honestly, this is why I like Kilojoules. Double overhead is about 3,000 kJs and the biggest swell I've been out in was 4,000 kJ and I was caught inside by a set and was thinking I may not survive. So when I was watching the 17,000 kJ swell in Bali a few years ago I knew it was probably unsurvivable ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
This is bit different, but the same. Bikes, but a big road gap, 30' wide, 20' deep both sides solid vertical rock walls both sided, everyone there one Sunday arvo, one downhill world champ, couple of state champs, all watching. There's a little 2' kicker on one side to launch, blow it and you go str...

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.
I was thinking the nose and tail stayed the same and you varied the middle. So 4 pieces give 2 middles so you get 3 boards: just the tail and nose, tail and nose plus one middle, tail and nose plus two middles. It would be really easy to design it and play around with all the components (rocker, rai...

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.
Best way to travel is on bike/scooter where there is even more pressure on board size.

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.
Carting boards around Indo is a pain in the arse. The planes are often small and your boards don't get loaded. I've seen mine in the pilot's cabin one time. The ferries are crowded, Bemo's are small.

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.
I'd like a travel board of four pieces that could be a 6'4", 7'2" or 8'.
So that's a nose and tail of 3'2" plus two middles of 10".

Re: New Concept in Surfboard Design and Construction.
There's four problems that I see: the first is a strong enough connection, the second is maintaining the flex profile of the board (if you think that important), the third is a connector that is reasonably easy to use and the last is one that is not too expensive/hard to construct. Looking forward t...
