Re: Where did you surf today ?

If I lived there it would be OK though. I'd probably get a good surf most weeks, and bike riding is great there. But its 240k from Perth and the hit rate is not worth it. I'd move there but Mrs Cranked is dead set against it. Could sell the place in Sawtell and get something, MR area is cheaper now ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It's pretty simple: onshore winds about 70-90% of the time; 3+m swell required for protected spots; expensive to stay there; very crowded surf; high standard of average surfer; sharks! they became a threat about 10 years ago and it's no longer safe to surf any breaks let alone the isolated ones I lo...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I suppose I should get off my arse and start going down to MR. There's breaks there that are protected and/or offshore for any wind, swell is a given. The main problem is accommodation is expensive, and it's a bit chilly camping, plus the covid19 exposure risk from communal toilets and showers is a ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Here's a bit of it offy: https://stabmag.com/news/pat-curren-needs-and-deserves-your-help/ Only a breadcrumb. I googled that too, doesn't explain anything. What stands out to me is, even those who seem to be on top of the world, have crosses to bear. Yeah, as you say offy, just a breadcrumb, but th...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

There's lots of them around in Perth too and most aren't ridden by learners.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I had another quite OK surf yesterday. 9' mal, only a few people out, head high, offshore, sunny. That's two reasonable sessions in just 5 days. The day before though I just watched and waited for 5 hours and then went home.

What’s your opinions of black pudding?
That it matters.
Been held down by white pudding hegemony for far too long.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Not too bad a surf this morning. In the water at first light on my 9' mal. I've finally recognised the advantages of a single fin - good paddling and drive down the line, just a nice smooth slippery feel. Erratic, head high waves, only four out. Swapped to my 6'10 Wombat (set up as a quad) after a f...

Re: Another New Toy

Nice story, Trev. Pics didn't pop up though. Same type of reasoning on my part for thinking about a Walden. Those fuschia are way thick. I started thinking about it when I started riding the foamy. It's 7'6" and 67 Ltre. I've ridden quite a few of the Walden's megamagics, they are unbelievably good...

Re: Midlengths

Hey, whats wrong with the colour? Black is bad though, its hard to keep the wax unmelted in summer, especially in the tropics.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

In my experience its usually pretty empty when its big, especially the bombie and the outside peak. Bit more of a crowd at Outside Corner when its on though, but nothing serious.

Re: Midlengths

Surf warehouse warranty their boards for production faults, just take them back and get a new one. They are so cheap to make they don't care. I've got four and no problems yet, and they've all survived the baggage handlers which are by far the major source of board damage for me (next is fin damage ...
