That was crazy!!!
Hats off to Julian, he paddled like crazy towards Mick, who was swimming without his board.

Re: surfboard agency boards
Quick bit off topic question. From what i read here that the xf nuggets are faster and more responsive. I have some pu nuggets and i find them very hard to surf in small waves. Generating speed is very hard. What do you guys think, are the xf nuggets more suited for small weak waves? Also, with the ...

Re: Ask Carroll
Nick, I'd like to discover a "superfood" in order to make a fortune from flavoursome beer drinking, legrope shunning hipsters. If I can find something edible from deep in an impenetrable jungle in either Africa or South America with an unpronounceable name that is spelt completely differently to th...

Hey Nick, would you mind sharing your thought on this vid? What to watch for, try to do next time in the water, etc. http://vimeo.com/29630744 Not a fan of the surfer, but that's some damn good small wave surfing there. My thought on that is it's a long time ago. Kolohe is a different surfer now, m...

Re: Ask Carroll
[quote="Nick CarrollWell here is another little tiny thought about style in surfing All surfers have what you might describe as a First Position. First Position in classical ballet is the stance at which you commence and to which you return before and after significant movements. I won't really get ...

Re: Ask Carroll
Hi 138cfh I sorta find it limiting to think of surfing as a question of back foot or front foot. It's a lot more useful to think of it in terms of weighting. Surfing's all about weight shifts across and along the board, often quite subtly managed through hip, knees and ankles, with the upper body b...

Re: Ask Carroll
Hi Nick, was reading through your book again and have an additional question about cutbacks. I always heard that when your at the top of the wave initiating the cutback, your weight should be completly on the backfoot. In your book you talk about the weight shift, when is the moment to shift the wei...

Re: Ask Carroll
Umm shit to be honest I think it's damn near useless. POV cameras remove all sense of perspective on how your movements on the board are affecting your position on the wave. The exception might be shots taken from a rear mounted camera of a highly skilled surfer riding somewhere like Chopes or Back...

Re: Ask Carroll
Hi Nick,
what's your thoughts on using a gopro to film yourself to analyse your surfing?
I know getting filmed from the beach is better, but is it an option or more or less useless.
