I have a 3/2 fireskin - last year's insulator, not a bad suit and the lining is warm.

Re: Long boarders and short on the same break

I've found quite the exact opposite to tell you the truth. I can't believe the number of people who happily paddle up, smile and try to have a chat before catching the only peak, then paddle back out, paddle inside you and expect to get the next set. They seem perplexed when you ignore them and cla...

Re: your last surf for a good while

I call it my saltwater addiction - and regular doses avoid any nasty withdrawal symptoms :) Having said that, I can do without if needed, guys that have to surf every day are pushing the obsessive thing a little too hard. If I get out twice a week at the moment I'm stoked (with two kids under five i...

Re: Long boarders and short on the same break

What sometimes works for me is talking to the wave hog, not about his behavior, anything else, the surf or weather- whatever. If he's been chatting to you he'll most likely find it harder to snake you- you are a person now, not just a thing sitting on a board...

Anyone got a Rip Curl insulator?

Thinking about getting one of these, possibly the 3/2... like the idea of the fireskin lining, as I do feel the cold, being a skinny bastard and all...

Re: Nick Carrol's Book - The Complete Guide to Surfing Your Best

Picked up a copy today, after the positive feedback from others on here. Been surfing 24 years, but always keen to fine tune what I do... :) Looks good on first read through. Not many bookstores have it, if you are down the shire way Unleash at Miranda stock it. Maybe I should throw it in my bag for...

Remember a mate of mine did just that in winter, one of his nuggets made its way into the sleeve of his wetsuit... nasty

Re: New to Cronulla, been away from the board for a while

anywhere along the beach should be no problem, just avoid the crowded banks :) I think as far as city beaches go, cronulla is pretty laid back. Just avoid the point or island for a while, ok?

I'm with capt caveman on this one. Considering how quickly other professional athletes are back playing again after things like knee reconstructions, broken bones and the like, he'll be back competing sooner rather then later..

Re: Yet another fin question

Thanks for expanding my knowledge on all things finnish, guys :) Ended up buying a set of FG-5 fins for a good price rather than swapping them, as I had actually enjoyed riding the 7 front/5 rear combo a few weekends ago down the coast in some decent waves, so thought it may be worth having more opt...

Thanks for the feedback guys... think I might go swap the 7's for 5's and see how it goes.

Yet another fin question

Help me get my head around fin principles please... Got myself a new board a month or so, pictured below: http://www.pbase.com/bookster/image/126098410/medium.jpg http://www.pbase.com/bookster/image/126098415/medium.jpg It's 6'2" 19¼" 2½" and came with FCS FG-7 fins - though I have been back to see ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Came back to cronulla and the beachies were going off  Bugger. So had another quick surf on a different board and had a ball. All in all it was a very good day. I concur, this arvo was very nice, 3-4 foot peaks, not super crowded (with dolphins boosting the numbers :) ) and how lovely was th...

Re: Board bag zip repair ???

Ps to this oldish thread, there is a little shoe/luggage repair place at Sans Souci that replaced the zip on my O&E travel cover. $25 to refit 1 zipper - the slider part only.

Re: What's the deal with the Steamers?

This seems to be discussed every summer...

I used to worry about what others were wearing, but hey - if they want to paddle around with a steamer on, good luck! Me, I love that feeling of being unrestricted in midsummer, I usually wear boardies and a long sleeve hotskin for sun protection.

At the moment surfing takes precendence over photography, due to time constraints. With two young'uns I have smaller timeframes available, so it's usually surfing that wins out...
