Re: Mentawais land base
I stayed at Awera Island a couple of years ago. It was owned by an Aussie, pretty low key and good value. Got some great waves and avoided the crowds until Telescopes and Scarecrows started firing.

Re: surfrib
If I've not been surfing for a while I get sore ribs for the first couple of surfs, but if the waves are on I can't feel it, much. Google "paddleair" for a solution if your surf ribs are unbearable. Looks interesting. Its a wetsuit or rashie with an inflatable bladder the protects the lower ribs. I ...

Re: Redbull Decades - iconic boards
What an awesome board was the Colonel Sanders foamie. It was the first surfcraft I rode a wave on and got me addicted to a buzz I still can't get enough of. Probably started a lot of us on a life long pursuit. It would be pretty cool to see some of these Redbull surfers on one at a pitching reef bre...

checked out the isurus - what did you pay for it? Have been through two patagonias. Found them good for a month - then they leak. First time they sent me a brand newie - second time they repaired. Still leaks and apparently they are meant to allow water in so the wool can do its thing. I find they ...

Isurus. I seriously got one, it arrived today. Its the 232 Elite rated 13 to17 degrees. Instead of contributing to a multinational congrobulation I thought I give a company that's owned and run by surfers some support. They've researched and put a bit into developing a wettie that uses new technolog...

My quicksilver cypher 3/2 steamer is starting to leak after 11 months. I'd picked it up for $250 from Surfection and thought it was a good deal, hasn't really had heavy use and I am disappointed. I'm now prepared to spend the dollars on a suit of quality that lasts and am tossing up between a Matuse...

Re: Maldives surf trip...
Hey Donweather,
Thanks for the Maldives April rundown.
There is always a gamble to be played on swell and winds but your info helps take out a fair bit of the guess work. The Maldives is on the bucket list of surf destinations, so just got to get some mates to commit and I'm sure we'll have a ball.

Re: Maldives surf trip...
A bunch of mates and I are thinking of chartering the Hamathi next April for 10 days and hiting the Southern Atolls of the Maldives. We've got a few questions and are hoping that the RS forum can help us out. We're wondering about wave size, quality and consistency: how much time is spent travelling...

Crowds in Fiji
I'm heading to Fiji in a week for 12 days, Coral Coast first week and then thinking of going over to the Mamanucas but am wondering how the crowds are at Cloudbreak, Wilkes etc. Not sure if I would be better doing the resort thing (?) or organising boat transports and battling crowds. Anyone surfed ...

Saw about 15 out the Kick this arvo, two SUP's carving? Some nice inside ones with the sets sectioning to Colla point. Typical Kick with a fullish slow wall, but a few going left and racing down the line . Brown Water looked smaller. Anyone ever surfed F and S point in Broken Bay? Looks like the rig...

Not really a body board fan since I was 11 but this does look pretty cool. Would love to see footage from theh beach.

Strapping a recently speared fish that is probally still bleeding to your body makes as much sense as rock fishing at night with 10 foot swells running.

There is no one in the history of surfing who deserves a world title more.
