Re: Bong in big trouble

At what point do you reckon that a famed international pro surfer might begin to wonder if he should extract himself from an endorsement contract as a result of the brand becoming too uncool to support. Not sure but probably when the $$ and conditions offered by the alternative are at least equal i...

Re: Quad Guns

50% of the boards I spotted at Margaret River in 2009 were quad guns... I think if I had the gonads and fitness to surf waves where a gun were necessary, I'd go a 2+1 with a big single in the middle, that cluster of 4 fins would make me nervous... more so.

Re: Contests - The Future.

I don't think it will be a big issue in the near future if at all ever, simply because the wave remains the dynamic element, every wave will be slightly different and will require a fluid dynamic approach. Maybe at some point they might consider the best contest surfing for viewers will be in less t...

Re: re-sticking my stomp pad

hi all was just wondering if anyone knows whats the best way to re stick a stomp pad. after my last surf it started to lift. i got some super glue but was wondering if that would be bad for the board? superglue would be okay, but i has no flex, so you really want a flexible contact adhesive like le...

Re: The essence of surfing is boldness

And as for you Mr Carroll: what's all this posting on RS while the comp is on??? I see you there  It's boring! Next two days gonna get a bit more, err entertaining. Is that when the new sequined and tassled wetsuits will be revealed? I've heard it's Billabong's ticket for a return to prosp...

Re: The essence of surfing is boldness

I hit the water pre 1980, so I must be in the cool group. Might go for a paddle and tell some people to fark off. It's my right aint it as a grumpy old cnut? PS whats with all the pink an orange wetties at Bells? Good to see Mick wearing all black. Wetsuits should be black, and black only. Simple f...

Re: Michael Peterson dead...

Great footage thanks Don. As an iconoclast by nature I have to say however that all this idol worshipping is boring, constipating, and gay. It's one of the hallmarks of the fetid surf industry which I detest the most. Wow, purely breathtaking. Perhaps you should improve the ventilation when glueing...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Surfed a 6'0" Stu Kenson singly made as a tribute to MP about 10 yrs ago. Stub nose round squaretail, deep fin about half way up the box. Surfed that board for about an hour then switched to a 5'9" MC deep concave. V trippy switching, the singly glided in and out of turns, the MC felt springloaded....

Re: What's to be done with SUPs

Some of the bullshit in this thread is breathtaking. It's no wonder the world is such a fucked up place, everyone's so quick to classify people at face value, when they'd probably never subject themselves to the sort of scrutiny they use for others. IMO its not about what you're riding (unless you'r...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

What was the surf like today lads, I'm lying on the floor with a heatpac on my back farting like a champion and just noticed how little wind there is, I can imagine it wouldn't be to bad. The lure of the ocean never leaves even if you are landlocked. small but surprisingly fun at DY this morning......

Re: Fin choice

I swapped out my thruster setup on the 8'0" Diverse widowmaker for a true 2+1; 8.5" single dolphin fin + GL side bights - much prefered it like this, really nice flow and a real determination with nice release off the top for a big single, but yeah, the flow of the board through manouvres and the dr...
